Will my MIL continue to receive PIls pension for the rest of her life?

I've asked my financial advisor but he's very slow - I've googled and can't find a definitive answer.

PIL died last year and MIL is now receiving his state pension as well as her own. Will that carry on for her lifetime?

Hi all - just to update - DWP were very helpful, even though we had to talk in hypotheticals as I'm not POA (dh is). Yes - she will receive half of her deceased spouse's pension for the rest of her life. This is great news as she can now afford to have some help around the house. Thanks to those who posted.

Op nrtft but if it helps my dm gets a "full" state pension now based on df's contributions (df died some years ago). She only paid a married woman's stamp & stopped work for a time when we were young. It is higher than what she received when he was alive.

She receives this payment in her name, not his. We just notified DWP when he died & her state pension payment was increased.

DM also gets a widow's pension/survivor's pension from df's work pension (occupational pension). I don't know whether she gets as much as he was paid when he was alive. Both of these will continue for the rest of her life.

Glad your MIL is sorted OP. Sorry for your loss x
