Man weeing in street!

GrossBehaviour · 06/01/2023 15:22

Hello dear Mumsnetters!
So this happened yesterday. Not altogether sure what if anything can be done about it but me and my daughter are so shocked about this 24 hours later! She took the dog for a walk yesterday down a quiet residential street at about 4pm. Still light. As she walked down the road she saw a man walking towards her. He saw her, turned towards a hedge and started relieving himself! Just like that! A very well dressed presentable looking guy she said. She didn't see anything as she quickly looked away when she realised what was happening but said she heard the gushing sound like it was a horse weeing she said! She walked hurried past and came back to the house feeling completely weirded out. I don't think it's a police matter is it? She has a description but it could quite literally be anyone?

As disgusting as it is to urinate in public, I would prefer police to focus on more pressing things than this. How old is your daughter? It is a little bit dramatic to be still shocked about this 24hrs later, worse things happen at sea!

SmugglersHaunt · 06/01/2023 15:25

I've seen a man doing a poo on a street corner in Hackney. He stopped, dropped his trousers, did the business and even wiped himself with a tissue from his pocket before walking off.

I thought I'd imagined it, so crossed the street to check - and sure enough, there it was on the pavement like a Walnut Whip.

BritAbroad101 · 06/01/2023 15:26

No not a police matter

Not exactly polite but not a big deal

GrossBehaviour · 06/01/2023 15:28

@Scalottia well as I said I don't think it's a police matter. My daughter is 19 but what if she was school age taking the dog round the block and saw something more?

OP posts:
GrossBehaviour · 06/01/2023 15:28

Ok cool. Not a big deal even at school kicking out time?

Fluffluff · 06/01/2023 15:29

I'd be concerned enough to report it.
The fact he saw here before he did it is odd

Tamarindtree · 06/01/2023 15:30

The fact that it sounded like he was gushing like a horse might indicate he was caught short or has a medical
problem and didn’t want to wet his pants/trousers?

Not nice to see but it’s possible he was unwell.

takeaflight · 06/01/2023 15:31

Don’t go to France !

strawberriesarenot · 06/01/2023 15:32

It is a police matter if it was done in response to your daughter's presence. I know because this happened to me during lunch hour in a very busy park. I mentioned it when I got back into work and senior staff were annoyed that I did not report it. One of them did report it and police said they would add it to an incident list being kept re. similar events in that park.

GrossBehaviour · 06/01/2023 15:33

@takeaflight I'm not planning to? I've seen similar myself here and abroad. But not in broad daylight in a very quiet street where lots of children live.

It actually is a police matter as it’s a public order offence. If the police witness it the person could receive a caution or a fine.

Nothing can be done after the event although a woman in my hometown was filmed by a passerby weeing in the middle of the high street and posted it online. People recognised her and told the police. She was fined as the video of her was evidence of what she’d done.

That made me roar laughing.

GrossBehaviour · 06/01/2023 15:36

Thank you @strawberriesarenot and @pinkstripeycat . From her description I have a suspicion that I know who it is in which case he pissed into a hedge just one or two doors from his own house. But I don't feel I can accuse this particular person in case it wasn't him!

@SmugglersHaunt that made me howl as well!

Your 19 year old daughter is still shocked 24 hours after she saw a man have a wee who sounded like Red Rum…. Ridiculous

rwalker · 06/01/2023 15:39

I live in a city with a uni common occurrence male and female

EmmaEmerald · 06/01/2023 15:42

The trouble is, men are encouraged to do it, like the open urinals in London. I hate it but I wouldn't waste police time on it.

JadeSeahorse · 06/01/2023 15:45

@SmugglersHaunt. Sorry pretty much off topic but Walnut Whip? 🤣🤣🤣

Priceless!

picklemewalnuts · 06/01/2023 15:56

DS and his mate (in school uniform) were asked to assist a man on a mobility scooter access his bottle. I reported to school- once may be a bloke caught short. If several reports were mad then it's someone choosing to involve others in their toileting.

I'd report because the guy appeared to target your DD.

You can do it online. It just gets filed into a computer programme and brought out if connections are made.

Don’t go to France !

😂I've seen policemen in France doing the same at the side of the road!

BovrilMartini · 06/01/2023 16:17

I had a man urinate in front of me. He then turned round and exposed himself to me.
It was on a road with a school at just after 9 in the morning.

I reported it to the police and they took it seriously

Georgeskitchen · 06/01/2023 17:18

Outraging public decency
Get the the dirty f**ker arrested. Nobody wants to see others pissing in public

Scalottia · 07/01/2023 10:07

GrossBehaviour · 06/01/2023 15:28

@Scalottia well as I said I don't think it's a police matter. My daughter is 19 but what if she was school age taking the dog round the block and saw something more?

Yes but you put a question mark which indicates to me a question, so I answered the question.

And your daughter isn't school aged and didn't see more. I still think being shocked 24hrs later is a bit of an overreaction, as unpleasant as it is to witness this. Has your daughter had something similar happen before perhaps which might explain her being shocked for over 24hrs?

Warspite · 07/01/2023 10:24

I saw it happen in a busy hospital car park. Chap stood quietly as if waiting for someone, checked all around him, didn’t see me sitting in my car and then pissed against a Mercedes!

Zipped up & mooched back to his family waiting two rows away in their family car. Hospital was a very short walk away. They have a public toilet right inside front doors.

I was fascinated as at first all I could see was the hot steaming gush (last winter, very cold) against the Merc until I realised what he was up to. I was appalled but hey ho what can you do!?

Ive not thought about it since until this post! Lazy bar-steward should have gone into the hospital like any decent person would.

Grantanow · 07/01/2023 10:28

It happens. In France it's accepted behaviour especially at the roadside. Don't waste police time on such trivia. The need to urinate is not always predictable.
