A lot of Gladbach players, past and present, have come from Switzerland, there are some season ticket holders from Zürich who come up for all home matches (you can see them in the home end with their flag) so i have a soft-spot for them. The Germans sometimes call them the Gladbach 2nd Eleven.

I remember Shaquiri and Xhaka doing that Albanian eagle thing one time, the press and the fans went bananas (which made some of Xhaka's comments about the WC and politics a little baffling, but there you go)

I can't remember exactly, i think someone may have asked him about the boycott and he replied something about keeping politics and football separate. I did a huge eyeroll and moved on (mostly because i was boycotting, but partly because there are very few footballers you can ask questions like that and get a good solid answer). It may even have been in advance of the Serbia match, knowing what a "thing" it is for him.
