Good morning @lucysmam, and all!
Happy New Year to each of you!
We’ve both been ill for almost two weeks now, so we’re still taking it easy. We basically had to skip Christmas all together. 😞 We did get a Chinese takeaway last night which was nice.
We’ve just had coffee in bed. DH had panettone with his.
We’ve got no plans for today, really. I’m desperate to be up and about again but I’m just not well enough yet. I think we’ll read/use our tablets/watch a couple of films over the course of the day. I’ll be on MN a fair bit, and I’ll also play a bit of Hay Day (my happy relaxing place!).
We’ve showered and got fresh, clean bedding on (have changed it every few days throughout) so at least we can feel fresh and clean.
I’ve switched off the outdoor lights, but the tree will be lit up until 12th Night.
I’m going to write in my new journal/planner. I’ve not got any firm NY resolutions (don’t really believe it’s an effective way of making changes), but I have been feeling like my body no longer enjoys the effects of alcohol so I’m taking a good long break from that, with a view to possibly giving it up all together. I’ve also got an underlying health issue which would be greatly helped by being more careful to look after myself well in terms of what I’m eating/drinking. I feel ready to go back to full time low-carbing, so I’m starting that again today, with a view to continuing indefinitely. Just need to create daily habits and wait for my brain to catch up!
I’m going to work on Christmas poncing throughout the year in 2023, as a mindfulness exercise and also as a distraction technique when I want to snack (because who doesn’t enjoy snacking on tasty things??), so I’ll be digging out my little fabric stash to start making some ornaments for the tree. Probably won’t actually work on them today, but I’ll have it ready for when I’m feeling better.
I’m going to write up a charity shop wish list, as I’m committed to a no-spend-at-all on new items in 2023 (but for a modest list of certain things I actually need to buy new).
I’ve not thought about what I’ll make for dinner...probably mash and peppered loin steaks with fried cabbage, sprouts and carrots.
I want to call my (grown up) children for a bit of a chat later, but again it depends on how well I end up feeling.
