I've found that it's often a case of suck it and see, as no one treatment suits everyone and all the time. I have MGD, and find that weather and time of year can change the severity. Lots of things have already been suggested, by my consultant also recommended regular eye massage to clear the oil ducts ( and actually those spots may not be spots, they may be oil lumps like small chalazia - that's what I had and I also thought it was spots). Properly clean your eyes when you wake. And sunglasses outside if it's bright - or wraparound- or cold/windy as I find both can make the dry eyes worse.

wraparound glasses would be a good idea, I’m looking and looking, and reluctant to actually buy something that will make me look as though I’m a motorbiker bloke or just wandered off the ski slopes. There has to be something more fetching out there!

I second the point about sugar. My eyes definitely dry out and develop styles more if I’m eating loads of sweets. Also reduce screen time, the blue light messes with your eyes. I find drops soothing but expensive.

Styes not styles

I have rosacea and I suspect ocular rosacea. Optician looked at my meibomian glands around eyes that produce oil and I only had four left so now using hycosan forte four times a day and taking omega liquid one TSP per day, special blend for dry eyes. Eyes seem less gritty

I have dry eyes, optician says it's probably linked to my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have daily drops.

I also have to wear my glasses more in cold or bright weather to reduce the dryness.

Would you say sjogrens can be bought on or come about due to stress ? I’ve been under so much stress last 6 months

Not sure about that. I got diagnosed with it about 5yrs ago and RA which I think was triggered by my last pregnancy. I think I’ve probably had sjogrens my whole life as I recall my mother always yelling at me for having dry skin 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yep. Another dietary thing, I noticed if I eat white bread my eyes sting.

I’m starting to think, in fact, that my eyes are happier if I don’t eat bread at all.
