I think yes

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/12/2022 09:49

It wouldn’t be enough for most people but it’s a reasonable balance of fat, protein, carbs and fibre to get you started

KindergartenKop · 18/12/2022 09:49

Not for a child off to do lots of activity.

But if they are difficult about food and won't have anything else I'd count it as a win.

Ocrumbs · 18/12/2022 09:50

Yes if you drink milk and like bananas

Dotcheck · 18/12/2022 09:50

Yep

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/12/2022 09:51

Would be for me. Maybe not for an active child.

OhTinyBear · 18/12/2022 09:52

What’s the context, and what are the alternatives?

It’s definitely better than a vape and an energy drink. Probably not as good as something with more protein and complex carbohydrate like steel-cut porridge with nuts or seeds, or egg on toast.

But there’s no sense trying to aim for an unachievable goal, so if a banana and a glass of milk is as good as it’s going to get, then it’s good enough for now.

Cas112 · 18/12/2022 09:52

Yes

TheVanguardSix · 18/12/2022 09:53

Perfect (though I dislike milk, nutritionally speaking, it’s a whole food).
A glass of kefir and banana is even better. Add a dollop of manuka honey to the kefir and you’re skydiving into good health.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2022 09:55

Who for? And how long til lunch? 🤷‍♀️

megletthesecond · 18/12/2022 09:56

Depending on who it is for and what they're up to, but in general its fine.

NuffSaidSam · 18/12/2022 09:58

If that's what the person wants, then yes.

I'd say it's a little bit light and the person wouldn't be unreasonable to want more/something else as well.

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/12/2022 09:59

I whizz that up with a couple of spoons of oats and a spoon of peanut butter, sets you up for hours. On its own it’s nice but not that filling.

Boosterquery · 18/12/2022 10:00

Impossible to say without more context, eg what the person is eating during the rest of the day and whether the person in question feels fine on that breakfast.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/12/2022 10:00

Yes, for most people that would be fine if that's what they want.

upfucked · 18/12/2022 10:00

Fine if they are happy with it. A balanced diet is not judged on one meal alone. My 3 year old rarely has more than a cup of oat milk and maybe some pine nuts for breakfast but she eats a lot more throughout the day.

Amiterrible · 18/12/2022 10:03

Oh sorry for myself

been struggling with stress/anxiety and been struggling a bit with food

never used to eat breakfast
bit olive found it helps calm the sickness feeling a bit

but it’s trying to find things that are quick and easy that I can get down

it's a good mix of nutrients.
so yes.

if that is what you can tolerate go for it. possibly swap to full fat milk.

Ragwort · 18/12/2022 10:06

I think it's fine as long as you are not leading a very active lifestyle. I am just having a strong coffee and an apple ... I know I eat far too much and have to force myself to eat less.

Dogsgottabone · 18/12/2022 10:08

I'd say it's a perfect breakfast. I sometimes have a banana and a handful of cashew nuts. With a decaf flat white that's more than enough for me.

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/12/2022 10:09

In that context OP it sounds like a great option 🙂

SophieJo · 18/12/2022 10:09

I think it’s fine and easy to eat. I have a banana mashed up in porridge and a glass of milk.

gliiterryballs · 18/12/2022 10:10

I agree.

starfishmummy · 18/12/2022 10:10

In the circumstances you mention, it sounds fine.

You could ramp it up by making some overnight oats - one batch will keep for 2-3 days in the fridge and then spoon out a portion and slice a banana on top. Or sometimes I smear almond butter on my banana which is both yummy and brings some extra nutrients.

Buzzinwithbez · 18/12/2022 10:11

I would make sure it's full fat milk. Also maybe take an omega oil or fish oil supplement with it. Plus some nuts?
