Come tell me about your amazing duvet

Looking for a new one after mine has gone all lumpy and wrong. It was only a stopgap anyway or supposed to be but I never got around to replacing it. Now it’s driving me crackers every night.

I grew up with feather duvets which I didn’t mind but I’m not sure how ethical they are and there’s so many more alternatives these days.

I’m looking at a wool one, does anyone have a good word for them? Or a bad one?

I’m incredibly cold but DH is warm blooded and has night sweats from medication so looking for a happy medium. What I really want is twin beds like Basil and Sybil Fawlty but it’s not to be Grin

I absolutely love my Baavet - it's wool filled, light, warm but I don't overheat
Best thing I have spent money on this year.

www.baavet.co.uk

I've just ordered pillows to go with it

Duvet Hog - like sleeping on/under a fluffy cloud and 100% ethical ❤️

GenialHarryGr0ut · 17/12/2022 20:58

Sorry - should have added under our old duvet I would be too hot and DH too cold but with this we have both been comfortable

we all have ikea hollow fibre duvets.
warm
feel lovely
and are washable

SabbatWheel · 17/12/2022 21:00

Baavet, without a doubt. No plastic liner to make you sweat like some manufacturers, just wool and cotton in different weights. Warmth without sweat.

In the summer we have an ultralight Ikea feather one which is also amazing.

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/12/2022 21:02

I have my first feather one and it is quite amazingly warm when it needs to be, but not too hot in medium temperatures, and always light. I have heard good things about wool. I’ve got a 1 tog synthetic duvet for hot months but wouldn’t go back to synthetic for winter.

Ohdearnotagain76 · 17/12/2022 21:02

What about 2 single duvets with a throw over the top

AdelaideRo · 17/12/2022 21:04

I've got goose down and really miss it when I'm away from home but have heard really positive things about wool (especially baavet) from friends who have them (I'm a knitter so baavet are often at yarn shows and lots of people have them).

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/12/2022 21:04

I have a Soak & Sleep goose down & feather duvet. It's wonderful! Like sleeping wrapped in a cloud.

I tried a Baavet but it didn't do it for me. I didn't like the flatness of it.

Pelo22 · 17/12/2022 21:05

I have a woolroom one I love, my dad also bought one after seeing mine

whirlyhead · 17/12/2022 21:06

I have a lovely big fluffy very warm duvet made out of recycled bottles. I couldn’t get more ethical I don’t think (though I’m not sure how recyclable it is)

Following!

Sprig1 · 17/12/2022 21:07

Another vote for Baavet.

Moonatics · 17/12/2022 21:17

Another vote baavet,
If your thinking about cost and hell wool duvets can be expensive, try the baargain box
www.baavet.co.uk/baavet-wool-bargains

Just wait for the size you need. Isnt usually long. Ive a middle weight range king size. Had it now for ummm4 years. Best duvet ever.

imayhavelostmymarbles · 17/12/2022 21:20

I recently bought a woolroom duvet. Was suprised how flat it is on the bed but it's so lovely.
It's warm but not sweaty. We like different togs but this keeps me snuggly and DH from being too hot at the same time.
Would certainly buy again

Summerishere123 · 17/12/2022 21:21

Mine is coverless! Best thing ever!

HamHand · 17/12/2022 21:28

Recommend wool too. We had a super expensive Hungarian goose down duvet but peri meant I was getting super sweaty at entirely unpredictable times and it was horrible, especially since I’m usually so cold. We’ve swapped permanently to our Devon Duvets wool one now. It does look very flat when you’ve been used to a down duvet but it’s so warm, I’ve not been cold at all, even in this cold snap, and we used it in the summer heatwave too so it really does work all year round. We did initially buy a Baavet but sent it back as it was so yellow toned, it showed through the white bedding. It also smelled very sheepy. Devon duvet one is not yellow and no smell!

RobinHumphries · 17/12/2022 21:49

Another one for Devon Duvets, also have their pillows. Lovely stuff and local (aiming to get a mattress topper next)

abbey44 · 17/12/2022 21:53

I’ve just bought a silk fibre duvet after a lifetime of down ones. It’s amazing - just the right weight, hypoallergenic and regulates your temperature (apparently). What I can say is that I’ve had the best sleep I’ve had for a very long time. Oh, and it won’t leak bloody feathers everywhere if the dog has a little chew of the corner… 🙄

Ragruggers · 17/12/2022 21:56

Devon duvet local wool.Wonderful,very light.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 17/12/2022 21:59

We have a double duvet each on our super king bed. Made such a difference we will never go back to sharing now!

PriamFarrl · 17/12/2022 21:59

Another Baavet fan. I keep it on the bed all year round. Even in this super hot summer. The only thing is that to start with there was quite a sheepy smell.

WhistlingInWhistler · 17/12/2022 22:04

Love our wool duvet. Never too hot or too cold, no clamminess. Always exactly right. I will say though, if you like your duvet to loft around you, a wool duvet doesn't do that.

WhistlingInWhistler · 17/12/2022 22:05

Also, there is nothing better than a Devon Duvets mattress topper. They're amazing.

LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 17/12/2022 22:12

Baavet is great.
