I love classic movies, but since Christmas is near, here are some of my holiday favorites.
It's A Wonderful Life (1946) - I don't watch it every year, mabye every five, but it is perfect in every way. It's not even very christmassy to me.
Miracle On 34th Street (1947) - I love this one, although I must say I prefer the 1994 version.
Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) - most beautiful Christmas movie ever - watch it just for the beautiful Judy Garland - she was never lovelier then in this Minelli's classic, and her christmas gown is a work of art,
White Christmas (1954) - This one is not my favorites, but I put it every year just for the train and party scenes alone. Even if I do not watch it, this is the one that I put while wrapping presents and making cookies.
Christmas In Connecticut (1945) - perfect christmas rom com. Five stars.
The Bishop's Wife (1947) -If you ever wanted to see what it would look like being seduced by Cary Grant, well this is the movie for you.
Holiday Affair (1949) - Good movie, although not that festive, and gritty in parts.
The Shop Around the Corner (1940) - Lovely Lubitsch at his best. They don't write scripts like that any more.
As for the rest, if you want perfect comedy watch everything written by Wilder and Brackett, especially Midnight (1939), the most perfect comedy ever written.
