...jeans. Long-sleeved t-shirt. Cashmere jumper. Cashmere socks over cotton socks. Alpaca poncho. Fleece-lined wool wrist warmers. A scarf. Sheepskin slippers. A folded blanket on my lap. How about you?

I find it curious that people say “I won’t heat the house for just me”. Obviously I understand that currently a lot of people can only afford to heat the house for x hours a day. But this attitude seemed to prevail long before the COL crisis. I can’t be reckless with my heating, I’m feeling the cost like every one. But yes it’s on. It used to cost me £30 per week to commute, which isn’t a huge communing cost, but I’m ok with putting some of that towards heat.

Whichwhatnow · 14/12/2022 11:29

Two pairs of pyjama bottoms, fluffy slipper boot things, pyjama top and an Oodie. I do actually have the heating on but it's crap and our flat has rubbish insulation. Getting an actual Oodie (rather than a knock off version, of which I also have two) has been a game changer.

I have a Teams video call soon and also need to go out at lunchtime so am already dreading having to get changed into a freezing cold hoodie and jeans 😬

It's not to do with cost for me, more environmental. Seems a huge waste to have a gas boiler going to heat only one room and with an electric blanket it's easy enough to heat myself instead.

Nasty fleece lined primark leggings, a thermal and a jumper. Heating is on set to 19 I’m ok. Cats are sat in my office with me

MenopauseSucks · 14/12/2022 11:38

Thermal long johns under fleecy joggers.
Long johns tucked into 2 pairs of socks & joggers tucked into another pair of socks.
Slippers.
Thermal long sleeved vest - tucked into long johns.
Thermal polo neck - tucked into joggers.
T-shirt over the polo neck.
Hoodie with scarf around neck.
Fingerless gloves but the tips of my fingers still get cold so have hot water bottle to touch to warm them up.
Reynauds runs in the family.

We're due heavy rain on Sunday & both day & night temperatures will be above freezing! I'm looking forward to it.

LadyDanburysHat · 14/12/2022 11:39

Nothing. In bed (working, luckily no meetings where a camera is needed) under two blankets and a cat.

CMOTDibbler · 14/12/2022 11:45

I feel like poo today, and my meetings don't start until 1, so am working from bed with the dogs so nice and cosy.

ethelredonagoodday · 14/12/2022 11:46

Base layer, long sleeved top, fleece. Thermal leggings, jeans, ski socks and a blanket on my knee. My heating helpfully wasn't working this morning (comes on for 2 hours first thing) and it was 14 inside by mid morning. 🥶
Luckily, friend has been round and repressurised the boiler, so it's back on for a little while.

viques · 14/12/2022 11:19

Buy yourself some heat tech leggings from Uniqlo, , they are very thin but will make a huge difference, no warmth in denim jeans.

So true viques. Yesterday I had those under cords and it was much better.

@NotToBeOrToBe @CMOTDibbler I envy you for having the right sort of pets. I have dogs but they're too large for a lap and refuse to lie on my feet.

Joggers, long sleeved T-shirt, cashmere jumper, sheepskin slippers. It's much sunnier and brighter today

I've been turning my nose up at them. I may have to relent.

turtle doves gloves
woolly hat
long sleeve t
cardigan
cheap fleece jacket
long scarf
jeans
fleece blanket
one pair socks
rubber soled slippers

No bra as wfh. My feet are cold today.

My office is upstairs and woodburner is downstairs. I'll light it about 4pm and work downstairs on laptop.

User963 · 14/12/2022 12:03

Get yourself some sheepskin type fleece lined tracksuit trousers, fleece thermal top from m and s, two jumpers and you will be toasty! That’s what I did yesterday. Heating was on in rest of the house but I turned my radiator off. I was boiling in the 18.5 degree heated rooms.

TheOrigRights · 14/12/2022 12:03

M&S fleecy tights, denim skirt, thermal turtle neck, wool jumper, my fleece "Dry Robe" over my knees, Uggs, electric heater on right next to me in my garden office.

I get up and down fairly frequently and don't like feeling too bundled up.

I am able to pay my heating bill. I regarding it as one of those horrid expenses like a big car bill, or broken boiler. The heating in the house is on low. I put the smart meter display away, it was making me too anxious. I had a dream about the bloody thing last night.

I am going for a run across the fields shortly, I'll be lovely and warm after that!

Bamboo socks

Vest
Long sleeved thermal top
