What do you eat when you're poorly?

I've had a nasty cold and I vomited this afternoon, haven't eaten all day.

Put my DD to bed and told my partner I was going to try and eat some plain beans, no toast. Just beans. He thought that was weird, but it's helped make me feel better.

What do you eat when you're poorly?

Chicken soup when im feeling really poorly and then when i start feeling better i always get a craving for sausage, mash and baked beans.

If ive got an upset stomach then walkers ready salted crisps are my go to and a banana

catsonahottinroof · 13/12/2022 20:53

It depends, some of these foods listed sound the least suitable I can think of if you feel sick. For me, sometimes I will just want something dry like crisps or toast, sometimes chicken soup. If I'm really ill then I won't want anything except cold food like jelly, ice lollies, lots of drinks with ice etc.
Some illnesses don't affect my appetite, just tastebuds, so I might fancy a curry or something like that.

quirkychick · 13/12/2022 20:54

Chicken soup/broth here too.
I also drink turmeric (golden) milk, as it's good for colds - not sure I would fancy it if I was sick.

MintJulia · 13/12/2022 20:56

Apple porridge with sultanas, hot coffee, lemsip

lobsterkiller · 13/12/2022 21:06

I get vegan rolls and biscuits delivered from greggs, I always need something carb dense when ill.

AdditionalCharacter · 13/12/2022 21:11

Mcvities digestive biscuits dipped in black sugary tea ( don't drink the tea afterwards). I even have a special cup.

echt · 13/12/2022 21:13

Heinz tomato soup - the one made in NZ as the Aussie one is bleurghhh.
Hot Vimto.

HPD76 · 13/12/2022 21:18

Mostly hot and sour soup from the Chinese takeaway. I order several pots to get me through a few days. Lovely stuff.

ILikeBigSaladsAndICannotLie · 13/12/2022 21:18

Apples, peppermint tea. Sometimes rice or plain potato with salt & pepper & a fresh tomato.

nauticant · 13/12/2022 21:19

A fish finger (2) sandwich made with soft white bread. I have mine with ketchup but other servings are permitted.

Toast. I've got a cold at the moment, and all I want to eat is hot buttered toast.

Toast must be either white bread (Warburtons Toastie) or Seeded Batch Loaf. Proper butter and lots of it.

This is not the time for medium sliced wholemeal and a scraping of flora light!

Emmalou0607 · 13/12/2022 21:33

Mac and cheese

CoQ10 · 13/12/2022 21:41

Loads of you talk about chicken soup.....

Do you make it and if so could you share recipe?.

Polkadotpjs · 13/12/2022 21:48

Sickness - fat coke and when able, toasted English muffin and butter. Then crisps

Cold/ flu - not a lot but drink lemonade like a PP

FLOWER1982 · 13/12/2022 21:50

Tomato soup, crisps or toast. Can’t face anything healthy!

Madison99Elle · 13/12/2022 22:05

Depending what's wrong with me. If it's a nasty cold/ viral infection like I have right now, I love comfort food which to me is like spaghetti bolognese. Every time I'm sick like that I fancy it, along with tomato soup and buttery toast.
Oh and melted cheese on toast. Reminds me of being sick when I was a kid and my dad making it for me.

JamMakingWannaBe · 13/12/2022 22:05

Bachelor's golden rice
Mini cheddars

Like PP
Porridge with raisins
Hot blackcurrant squash

ifonly4 · 13/12/2022 22:09

If I've been sick, I often start off with a breadstick as it's dry and light, moving onto toast. However, tomato soup is the one thing I always fancy once I can stomach food (I've got three cans stashed just in case!) and sometimes I'll add grated cheese to the top.

afaloren · 13/12/2022 22:12

Chicken soup, toasted bagels, orange juice.

YourTruthorMine · 13/12/2022 22:12

D & V, nothing, not even a tiny sip of water (severe emetophobe)
Cold/Covid/random snot virus: scrambled eggs on toast
Flu: nothing (haven't had proper flu for years)

Pineapplebread · 13/12/2022 22:15

Struggling ith covid atm and I've eating an obscene amount of the rowntree water melon lollies.
Normally it's butter and marmite on toast and a bottle of lucozade. But the thought of toast right now is awful.

Dartmoorcheffy · 13/12/2022 22:19

It used to be heinz cheese and ham toast toppers until the evil bastards stopped making them, now its tiramisu or scotch broth soup

GeneandFred · 13/12/2022 22:22

Chicken supernoodles 🤣

jackstini · 13/12/2022 22:26

Nothing! It's the one time I lose weight
Not recommending this - just how I feel

Although when I am better i almost always crave cheese...
