Where in London will wow my 16 year old daughter for dinner?

I want to take me and my daughter out for the evening for her birthday where we both get dressed up and go somewhere fun and fancy that she’ll love and will blow her away - so a menu that isn’t ridiculously adult biased but where the atmos and the place is quirky, fancy, fun and she will love.
Help!

Ave Mario in Covent Garden - same chain as circolo Poplaro and Gloria.

Al set up for the 'gram.

Although IvyAsia look incredible!

Amazonico is a nice option and one that hasn't been mentioned. Ivy Asia is a great choice and I'm sure you won't be disappointed x

The Shard, for afternoon tea or dinner.
Love Sketch too!

Oh wow - thank you so much everyone - so many brilliant ideas. I’m looking at sketch to start with - which restaurant would have the most impact and is there live music?

She loves japanese food but I’m thinking I want to find somewhere incredible to look at as well as the food aspect.

In that case Sushi Samba is definitely the one OP!!

Coppa Club Tower Bridge. Hire one of their outside pods. The view is lovely.

But the food is distinctly average.

We took Dd to the Ivy Asia at St Paul's for her 21st. It was fab.

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 10/12/2022 22:56

Sexy fish is not impressive! Skip!

gruffalosbrother · 10/12/2022 22:57

Not sketch in a million years.

sushi Samba. Or for cheaper Roka or Sticks and sushi

lolly07766 · 10/12/2022 23:00

Sushi Samba 😊

Brasserie Zedel

Just be aware that in my experience at least expensive doesn't mean people dress up in London, the joke is you can spot the out of towners because they are dressed up in posh clothes, understated smart casual is the normal code if at all. For a dressed up experience go north, they know how to dress up there

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/12/2022 23:35

Not Gloria, unless you want to be practically sitting on the laps of the people on the next table.

Afternoon tea at Fortnums or the Wolseley nice.

ErinAndTonic · 10/12/2022 23:37

Another vote for Sushi Samba - the one in Heron Tower has more wow factor than the Covent Garden one but you'd need to pre book for sure.

Sketch is nice for afternoon tea but the wow factor doesn't compare. Best thing about them is their quirky bathrooms to be honest!

Circolo Popolare is gorgeous

Sanderson hotel does a very quirky and fun Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea.

Don’t do this! Alice in Wonderland is fine for grown-ups being ironic, at 16 I’d have cringed and said “I’m not ten!!”

I’d suggest somewhere with a fab view like the Shard, or maybe the Ritz.

Twinklenoseblows · 10/12/2022 23:47

Love love love Sushi Samba for food, decor and views. But it has to be the Heron Tower one.

Q2C4 · 11/12/2022 03:13

Sky Garden in the Walkie Talkie.

3luckystars · 11/12/2022 03:24

Wow some great googling on this thread!

I hope you have a great time.

Spliffle · 11/12/2022 03:38

NOT Hakkasan as someone suggested upthread, it's insanely expensive. A date took me there, £600 for two! 😳

catmum88 · 11/12/2022 07:04

Came here to say this. Darwin restaurant in the Sky Garden. The views are beautiful, the garden is lovely and great food too. Always somewhere I take my family for a wow factor. Not sure about Sketch for a 16 year old - I’m never that impressed by it personally.

Meant to quote the previous sky garden post!

Amazonico is nice, lovely rainforest inspired decor.

Sushi Samba imho is looking v tired these days.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/12/2022 07:36

Hakkassan doesn’t have to be crazy money. They usually do a good deal of 3 courses plus a cocktail for £39, but they seem to have stopped it at the moment. Hopefully it will return after Christmas.

The drinks are ridiculously expensive though.

Theredjellybean · 11/12/2022 07:41

Sushi samba in the heron tower..but it's very£££
Don't go the shard... overpriced, average food and awful service
The sky garden has two restaurants both have great views.
