I am due to start a new job after Christmas. I have passed all the background checks etc etc mths ago and had the offer for 3 mths and have been so excited to start. I got an email from recruitment person asking if I'm free tomorrow as they are doing some kind of "organisational restructure" that they want to get me up to speed on. what the hell does this mean?! It's 3 weeks until Christmas I can't be left jobless my husband is off stick atm and I need this job so so much. Do you think this is them pulling the offer ? Please help

I’m so sorry. How shitty of them to make small talk like that. And right before Xmas.😞. I’d consider going to ACAS if it might get you a tiny bit of money. And here’s hoping you find something else quickly.

So sorry op

RaininSummer · 09/12/2022 23:06

That is awful. Really sorry. Do get what you are entitled to from them.

legofrostqueen · 09/12/2022 23:11

How awful...did they say why? Is there a possibility of withdrawing your notice? Really sorry for you Flowers

Unfortunately a contract gives very little protection. Maybe a week's notice pay - it'd usually be just a week in the probationary period.

I'm really sorry, OP. But January is a brilliant time to find a new job as so many people leave for pastures new. Get your CV in with as many recruiters as you can and I'm sure you'll find something. And try not to think about this over Christmas Flowers

Of course they can. Given they could Startthe employee and sack her on day1 with notice, they can do it before she starts with notice paid in lieu

Notice is usually a week in probation. Possibly a month if you're lucky

Are they paying notice OP

Sorry for your bad news, shitty treatment

If you signed a contract they can't just withdraw it?! That's the entire point of the contract.... You need to get some professional advice
