Tandem pushchair where toddler isn’t squashed

After recommendations please. Will need double pushchair for baby and 2 and a half year old. Can’t be side by side as won’t go through door. There’s no way my toddler will get into one that’s designed where she’s got the other seat looming over her if you see what I mean. She’ll wNt to be able to see out/forwards. Any recommendations please?

Mountain buggy are launching a new tandem ( one behind the other). Which looks really spacious

Soubriquet · 08/12/2022 09:34

Have you actually checked the side by side ones?

I had an out n about double which was big enough for both children but also small enough to fit through my very small door way. It was also small enough to load on to a bus and they aren’t the biggest

PingPongMerrilyWithPie · 08/12/2022 09:39

I think the smaller child goes underneath in P&T.

I used the mountain buggy duet (it's a side by side) until my oldest was 4. I never had problems going though doors as they are designed to be no wider than a wheelchair. It also worked well on buses and could turn on the spot.

Forget to say, the mountain buggy tandem launches tomorrow (aka 9th Dec)

Looks like it will convert to single after if you don’t need front toddler seat in 6+ months

Caspianberg · 08/12/2022 10:10

Phil and teddy voyeger worth looking at also. Can face child towards each other, and have carrycot, car seat, seat with newborn at the back and toddler at the front

applesandpears33 · 08/12/2022 10:33

P&T Sport if they are still made - the heavier child sits in the top seat. Although I found my kids squabbled because they both wanted to sit in the more cramped bottom seat and I've heard from other parents that this is quite common.

KindergartenKop · 08/12/2022 11:06

I'd third Phil and Teds.

Tiny baby sits underneath in basket which rests on the reclined main seat. Then toddler sits on top in the removable seat.

When the baby is ready to sit up the main seat sits upright and the removable seat slots underneath.

Uppababy Vista

Our door is 68cm wide so out n about won’t fit.

I got the Phil and ted verso - been really good - my 3 year old still happy to jump in bottom seat underneath and he’s tall - not cramped when little one (7 month) is facing outwards, bit of a squeeze if the little one is facing me on top x

wishing3 · 08/12/2022 19:54

My toddler can be anti pushchair at best of times so really do t think she’d go on an underneath gif. Imagine it could be hard to wrangle her in!

Ooh, this one might fit! Thanks!

My city mini goes through 95% of doors. There’s only one door that sticks in my mind that I didn’t get it though. So worth looking at. I got mine cheap on market place.

trampoline123 · 08/12/2022 20:00

I can't recommend one but can advise against silver cross

tattychicken · 08/12/2022 20:20

Another one for Mountain Buggy side by side. I preferred the children being able to see out and see each other rather than one being stuck behind the other looking at the back of a seat.. I never couldn't get through a door, and it turned on a sixpence. Tough as anything too, mine went through 4 children and I still managed to sell it on in good condition.

bumpytrumpy · 08/12/2022 21:21

Mountain buggy duet is no wider than a single doorway. I had one 10 years ago and still see them around regularly

AdditionalCharacter · 08/12/2022 21:31

If your toddler doesn't sleep in a buggy, have you looked at a Joovy Caboose? I had one when DS3 was born and DS2 was a bolter. You have to use a car seat for the newborn, so not great for long trips, but good for nipping to shops and other places little legs might get tired.

wishing3 · 08/12/2022 21:37

Toddler exclusively naps in pushchair! Thanks though

I think the Type of tandem you're looking for is an inline tandem.
Baby jogger do one.

mrssunshinexxx · 08/12/2022 21:57

I have the egg double pram smaller chikd goes underneath as the seat is slightly smaller

Kpo58 · 09/12/2022 10:32

The mountain buggy duet is 63 cm wide, so should be doable. 🙂

MrNook · 09/12/2022 10:37

Not a personal recommendation but I've been researching for me and going for the Vista V2

Twizbe · 09/12/2022 10:41

We got an uppababy vista for our second. It was fab as a double and then great as a single with a buggy board and then just as a single as they grew up.
