I take a multivitamin, magnesium, vitamin d (the better you spray) and omega 3 oils. Turmeric too.

bloodywhitecat · 07/12/2022 19:05

Spatone and Vit D, I was struggling with lack of sleep and generally feeling crap most days, the Spatone in particular has really helped.

Ashwagandha can be good for sleep but research it.

Footballmyarse · 07/12/2022 19:10

Calcium as I have celiac disease, and vitamin d as my last blood tests for heart celiac screening showed I was deficient.

I also take B1 (thiamin) as we have a huge history of dementia in close family and I’ll try anything to lower my chances. Some say it helps. (To be fair, if some doctor said drinking cat piss has been linked to lessening chances of dementia I would do it after having to watch my dads decline).

greenacrylicpaint · 07/12/2022 19:11

vit d3 20ug a day
iron twice a week (prone to anaemia)
magnesium after a run

Sausagedognamedmash · 07/12/2022 19:12

D-mannose and a probiotic as I'm prone to both UTIs and Thrush and these seem to have really helped.

Friendofdennis · 07/12/2022 19:16

l carnosine which fights inflammation in the body linked to lots of diseases. Green tea tablets said to defend against some kinds of cancers

ItsAColdDay · 07/12/2022 19:19

There is a doctor with a channel on YouTube, he demonstrates a 10 min lymphatic facial drainage massage and according to him, you will sleep really well after and it's true.

SabbatWheel · 07/12/2022 19:20

Vit D / Calcium prescribed combo, B12 and Glucosamine (I run and the glucosamine really helps my knees, they’re sore if I don’t take it).

ChillysWaterBottle · 07/12/2022 19:23

5HTP or St John's Wort can help with anxiety and mood OP - but word of warning, do NOT take them together or if you're taking anti depressants from the doctor, it can be dangerous! If you're taking other medication/supplements just double check the interactions.

Turmeric/curcumin (they're basically the same thing, curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric I believe) can be good for inflammation and there is a growing body of thought that mood disorders can be excaberated by inflammation especially in the gut. It has been known for a good few years now that the gut can affect mood - if I remember correctly there are as many serotonin receptors along your intestines as in your brain - so improving gut health may possibly help (and is good for well being anyway, a healthy microbiome can affect anything from weight management to immune health to energy levels). Worth trying some high strength pro biotics or, if you're sick of supplements, eating kefir.

Saffron can also be used for helping mood. I don't know what the evidence is for it but worth trying since it's not too expensive in tablet form.

I take iron for energy as I was anaemic and I also take cod liver oil, purely because my grandad always told me to and he lived to his mid 90s!

Vit D spray
B6&12 supplement
magnesium supplement
I take iron supplement when DS is home from uni as he is veggie so we have mainly veggie dinners and if I don't eat red meat I get anemic quite quickly.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 07/12/2022 19:24

My vitamin D is always shocking due to my thyroid and having to take a PPI. Do you have it on repeat? I was given a loading dose then told I had to buy my own.

wickerhearth · 07/12/2022 19:48

Currently just Ashwagandha twice a day, helps me a lot to balance my mood.

Cornelious · 07/12/2022 19:53

I take daily

Magnesium (tablets but I also use the better you spray on my painful joints)
Vitamins B, C & D
Cod liver oil
Evening primrose
Milk thistle
Biotin

Cornelious · 07/12/2022 19:54

Forgot calcium also

spillageinaisle3 · 07/12/2022 19:55

Vitamin D. Because blood test revealed a deficiency.

echt · 07/12/2022 19:56

600mg of curcumin twice daily, for osteoarthritis which is only symptomatic in one hip, and that mildly. This thread has made me think of it - I've had no twinges for about nine months!

25 mugs Vitamin D daily is general doctor's advice, ,a maintenance level.

5mg folic acid daily for bone marrow, rehuamtologist's advice after deficiency picked up in blood test

wesayno · 07/12/2022 20:07

Vegan multi-vitamin
B12
Omega-3
Vitamin D because there is no sun

TroysMammy · 07/12/2022 20:12

Magnesium as I have restless legs. I also take pramipexole for them which doesn't work well on its own.
