At this point I'm just grateful the parcel arrived.. I'd almost given up hope. I'll be using DPD or UPS in future.

Same! I did 24hr Tracked and got told actually that's what we aim for, but it can take at least 21 days before we look into it! 😡

Shopaholic100 · 05/12/2022 18:13

Gosh I hope not. I’ve ordered medication from an online pharmacy and I need it for next week!

mindutopia · 05/12/2022 18:24

We had a friend who sent a wedding present for us from abroad. She emailed to let us know to expect it around the time of our wedding (she couldn't come because abroad). It took 8 months! We'd nearly forgotten about it and then one day, it appeared. Who knows where it was for 8 months!

Amicompletelyinsane · 05/12/2022 18:28

24 hour tracked. Sent in May. Received in October! Sadly it was time sensitive so it has spoiled long before it got there.

ChristmasJoysuckers · 05/12/2022 18:29

Oh no!! Ours is an Xmas presents that seems stuck at North Hampton?

What' can I do?

Shall I start some ball rolling? Form? What'!

I sent some very important documents needed for a legal deadline to the US just at them same time someone tried to disguise a bomb in a printer cartridge and all freight shipping was suspended. I spent weeks tracking them around various DPD depots (including one less than a mile from my house) until they finally got on a plane. Luckily the USPTO were unusually understanding.

MichelleScarn · 05/12/2022 18:37

I downloaded the app and kept track then eventually tracked down a telephone number and got to speak to a HUMAN who found it in the system and low and behold 2 days later it arrived!

MichelleScarn · 05/12/2022 18:39

This is the number I used, listen carefully for the options as the first one takes you through to an automated service, don't use that one! 03452668821

Royal Mail lost a tracked item sent to a customer, then delivered the replacement item to the wrong address, and even though they know that they have done this they cannot retrieve it for some reason, so I have had to refund my customer and won't get all of the money back from Royal Mail. Oh, but things sent more cheaply are arriving in a couple of days!

cheshirecatssmile · 05/12/2022 18:44

Still waiting for my parcel that was posted 30th October, can't find it on the system anymore. Had to get a refund which in turn doesn't help small business

pointythings · 05/12/2022 19:20

Got an email today that my 48 hour tracked parcel was due to arrive today - nope. So I could be adding to this saga.

It's a sodding Christmas present as well.

Iheartmysmart · 05/12/2022 19:28

My 48hr tracked parcel sent on 31 October still hasn’t arrived, nor has the 24hr tracked one sent on 17 November. I’m now refusing to buy anything on line from companies who ship via Royal Mail.

iRun2eatCake · 06/12/2022 11:41

I'm having similar issues with RM....plus the tracking systems doesn't recognise any of the numbers l enter 😕.

I'm seriously considering using Evri because although I'm also awaiting a delivery via them - at least l can see where it is on the Tracking app!

Labradinger · 06/12/2022 13:14

Our marriage cert was sent 2nd class signed for on the 23rd August, and it arrived on the 25th November! I thought it had got lost so ordered another one which arrived the day after it was posted. Makes no sense to me

elm26 · 06/12/2022 14:45

I'm still waiting for medication that was sent signed for on 23rd November! RM can't help me apparently.

Wheretheskyisblue · 06/12/2022 15:20

I am waiting for an ebay item that was sent 48 hour tracked on 26th November. It says estimated delivery date is 7th Dec, so 10 days if it happens to arrive tomorrow.

listsandbudgets · 06/12/2022 15:38

Well that's good because I ordered DD a Christmas jumper and have just had an email to say it's been sent 48 hour tracked!! At least it will hopefully have arrived by next December so I'll have saved myself a job.

I'm going to try to go to the actual shops instead - easier said than done with 2 DCs off sick at the moment.

Worst thing is we are expecting a letter later this week about a school we applied for for DS. He's desperate to know if he got in but I fear it's going to be long time before we find out and school will only send results by post. We've had no post for 11 days and counting now.

Does anyone know what the RM staff are doing on the days they're not striking because so far as my experience goes, it's not delivering the post - although oddly enough DP is getting stuff in the office.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 06/12/2022 15:51

I've always been a supporter of RM but I won't be using them again. DPD far more reliable

I bought DH a rare record for Christmas. He's looked for it for years without luck.

By chance I found one on eBay. Seller sent RM signed for recorded delivery.

Was told it would arrive after 4pm.

At 1pm I got a "item delivered and handed to resident". Except it wasn't. I wasn't at home. No one was at home.

No signature either. Just a photo of a doorstep that isn't mine and looks nothing like homes on my street.

I contacted RM who refused to speak to me as I wasn't the seller. Poor seller probably thought I was trying it on until he checked street view for my street and looked at the photo. Also that there was no signature.

He contacted RM who at first denied delivering to wrong address. They tried to say I should check "round local area". Also said postman was "new".

So, they expected me, with a photo of someone's feet, the inside of their front doorstep and a tiny corner of a wall to work out where my item was.

Seller agreed that were taking the piss and refunded and he has now asked RM to refund him. I can't find a replacement of the same item. God knows who ended up with the record, I half believe that it was pinched and dropped off at their mates house.

houseargh · 06/12/2022 15:57

Very similar experience. I am avoiding all companies that use Royal Mail for Christmas shopping this year

Suzysuz · 06/12/2022 16:00

Not Royal Mail, but I once sent my sister a parcel to Australia, paid all correct postage, but seemingly didn't arrive so presumed lost/stolen or something.... only for it to turn up back at my house about 3 months later 🤣 I'd written their address wrong so was undeliverable and they sent it all the way back to me! So the bloody thing had done a round the world journey 🤣

Zippedydoo123 · 06/12/2022 16:13

Ths is why I pay for Amazon Prime. Me and ds get our deliveries on time.

Catspyjamas17 · 06/12/2022 16:21

Trouble is the likes of Evri, whose customer service is at least questionable in many areas anyway, are becoming overwhelmed as well. Amazon are really reliable, I find no-one else can compete. We can get things same day as part of Prime sometimes.

NippyWoowoo · 06/12/2022 16:58

I've had a theory since I lived in my flat (2 years). I think my local sorting office holds onto post and delivers it once a fortnight.

I started thinking this because my post always arrives in a batch and I hardly get post.

The last few weeks have cemented it for me because I used Moonpig to send several cards out. The ones I sent to other addresses were received the day after I got the notification that they were dispatched.

I had one sent to me and it turned up yesterday, 2 weeks after receiving the dispatch notification. I ordered another to be sent to be a few days ago, I expect I won't have it for another 2 weeks.

Its outrageous.

Yep

That's what happens here too.

Nothing for days and days then a number of parcels arrive together no matter when they were posted/tracked etc

LittleMy77 · 06/12/2022 20:53

Don’t bank on DPD. I went to my local drop point yesterday, and they said the DPD drivers have refused to pick any parcels up for 4 days! Bloody nightmare
