Received a (TW) pic. So angry!

Spudlet · 03/12/2022 15:14

So TW for anyone who would be upset by mention of unsolicited NSFW pics.

Some grubby little man has sent me a dick pic today. I got it when I was getting changed after taking ds(6) swimming - it’s bloody lucky he didn’t see it as that would have been an awkward conversation that I really don’t want to have right now. I assume he took my phone number off my website (I run a business). I’ve had some vaguely suggestive messages before (from different numbers) but this is the first time I’ve had an image sent.

I have reported it to the police although I don’t think they can do anything. I’m just so angry! I feel so bloody impotent to do anything beyond blocking the number and cross referencing my client database to make sure it isn’t one of them (I doubt it, but you never know). And taking my number off all my marketing materials and website which is in itself infuriating because it will lose me business, and it takes time and will have costs involved (like reprinting things).

Just - fucking men! And yes, of course not all men. But too many men nonetheless. I don’t even have a question or anything for this thread, I’m just so bloody angry!

I have an absolutely vile dick pick from my horse who had a triffid like cancerous growth on the end of his dick. I'm just waiting for some skank to send me a dick pick so I can burn their eyeballs with my offering.

I feel quite strongly about this apparently!

Lilimic79 · 03/12/2022 17:17

Id of messaged back saying "Is that it as I've seen bigger" Then blocked the number.
Too many weirdos out there these days.

Because it’s just a dick pic.

We do not have the resources to be able to handle horny men showing off even if you believe we should.

What about actual flashers, not just virtual flashers? Are we supposed to ignore the sad sack in the street who whips his willy out and starts wanking furiously in front of people? Do we just walk round them and carry on with our day?

Your attitude stinks and I sincerely hope you're not a police officer.

mamabear715 · 03/12/2022 17:23

@FictionalCharacter great idea!

Ooh, perhaps you could help the OP out here! In fact, I’m fairly sure there would be quite a few of us who would be quite happy to go digging around the Internet for various deformed penises if only we had the offender’s phone number to send them onto.

Thekormachameleon · 03/12/2022 17:30

I once replied with
Oh it looks a bit like a Penis only smaller, what is it supposed to be

Then located his social media and tagged him and politely asked him not to send dick pics again

That did the trick

YellowTreeHouse · 03/12/2022 17:32

Flapjackquack · 03/12/2022 16:51

@YellowTreeHouse - who is we? Do you have the same attitude towards flashers? How about men who grope women on the tube? Why should women just have to put up with this?

The nation as a whole.

No, I don’t have the same attitude towards flashers. That is a real person in front of you who has the potential to do more. Similarly with being groped.

A dick pic, especially one sent by an anonymous source, can be deleted and forgotten about. You are not in any danger.

YellowTreeHouse · 03/12/2022 17:33

@PollyAmour I’ve just answered that. And no, I’m not a police offer. I wouldn’t do that job for all the money in the world.

YellowTreeHouse · 03/12/2022 17:33

Nah, YellowTreeHouse likes to post controversial nonsense on most threads presumably because they’re a bit lonely and sad.

I think you have to feel a bit sorry for posters like that, but otherwise ignore them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I used to work with sex offenders. Almost every rapist has a flashing charge. Because it's not about being horny. Horny people have a wank. It's about making a woman an unwilling participant in their sex life, the same impulse as rape.

It's not funny, it's not nothing, it's not trivial. Letting men know that consent is mandatory at EVERY stage of a physical relationship is actually key to stopping the epidemic of sexual violence we all live with. If they don't know that, the police can remind them.

YellowTreeHouse · 03/12/2022 17:37

@MrsTerryPratchett I’m not talking about flashing. That is obviously something very different to an anonymous dick pic.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/12/2022 17:38

I wish I'd known before I posted. I shall ignore going forward. <adds name to spreadsheet> Thanks for the heads up @PurplePixies

Really? Sending an anonymous photo of an erect penis is flashing and is almost as bad as the reality, sometimes worse, because the picture is on YOUR phone in YOUR possession. It's a violation and you are being very dismissive of something that causes a lot of anger and upset in a lot of women.

Are you actually a man who enjoys sending unsolicited dick pics to women you don't know?

user1471465329 · 03/12/2022 17:44

Sorry you've had to go through this.

Could it be an option to use a separate dumb phone for just calls and texts for your business? Could use that number for marketing materials etc and check it during business hours, and not get hassle from gross weirdos on your personal phone.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 03/12/2022 17:45

I'm sorry but I don't think I could just let him get away with this

I'd have to track him down myself

Flapjackquack · 03/12/2022 17:48

An unsolicited dick pic just meant the flasher didn’t have to get a cold nutsack. It’s the same perverted behaviour.

Bonjovispyjamas · 03/12/2022 17:50

@Thekormachameleon Brilliant 🤣

Luckycatt · 03/12/2022 17:55

YellowTreeHouse · 03/12/2022 15:57

Dick pics do not need a TW ffs 🤦‍♀️

Just delete and move on with your day.

Fuck that. Women have spent enough time normalising mens' shitty behaviour.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 03/12/2022 18:04

I received a dick pic once from someone I used to work with. Reported it to HR and had him fired straight away. So pleased.
It's absolutely grim to receive one OP, no one has the right to send unsolicited pictures. Hopefully the police can do something.

Charlize43 · 03/12/2022 18:08

Can't he be traced from the number he sent it from? Def. report to police.

"This message has been found to contain inappropriate material. This message has been automatically forward to the (insert local police) along with users mobile phone details."
I was going to suggest the same. If you do nothing else, it will scare the shit out of him.
I would definitely do this and report to the police.

The picture on YOUR phone in YOUR possession can be deleted. You cannot delete an actual man with his dick out in front of you.

You have no idea whether he is just getting his dick out or whether his intentions are more sinister. You also have no idea if it’s an opportune moment or whether or not he knows you and it’s deliberate, or if he plans to follow you and do it again.

To say receiving a photo from an anon which you can delete and forget about is even remotely comparable to being approached in public by a real physical man diminishes the stress, horror and trauma real flashing victims face.

Flapjackquack · 03/12/2022 18:59

Are you an equal opportunity apologist for men who inflict their sexual perversions on women @YellowTreeHouse or do you just have a particular soft spot for men who send unsolicited pictures of their genitalia?

Having experienced both, I can say I found both incredibly violating.

They are very much comparable in my experience.
