Xmas Grin Living without heating for as long as possible and I've been looking for ways to keep warm. I can highly recommend wool socks. My feet are now toasty which is fab.

Aldis sheepskin slippers are better than my Ugg slippers, I bought mine 2 years ago and am hoping that they stock them again to buy some as presents.

@Bluevelvetsofa I don’t think Nordic socks contain much wool though. And you can buy the exact same ones on AliExpress for a lot cheaper!

M&S wool boot socks are the business. 2 pairs for £10 and they are really thick and cosy. I just wear them as house socks.

Bamboo socks are brilliant, warm and comfy with the added bonus of sustainable . Merino base layers keep me warm on a motorbike in winter down to -9C

I feel a bit guilty @CloudJam because I'm sure the garden centre made a pricing mistake..

I never knew alpaca was a hollow fibre, that's so interesting. I shall keep my eye out for alpaca yarn now I know that.

I recommend Pairs socks. They have Alpaca, Marino, Lambswool and Cashmere, all sustainably sourced and gorgeously warm and comfortable.

MinnieMountain · 14/12/2022 06:24

Where do you get your merino tights @LaChatte ?

PAFMO · 14/12/2022 06:28

Can I recommend a sheepskin hot water bottle cover? Celtic & Co do them. I got DD one last Christmas (they are expensive but I got a £20 off voucher) the hot water bottle stays hot for about 12 hours.

CalmConfident · 14/12/2022 06:28

I wore my smart wool ski socks the other day wondering why I did not do it sooner as my feet were super cosy ☺️

CrochetBug · 14/12/2022 06:36

I crocheted some beautiful alpaca wool socks. They were warm and soft and so perfect.

And not machine washable Blush

You haven't lived until you've worn a pair of well made hand-knitted socks. I've got a drawer full of them and it's like wearing a hug. Corny, but true.

I knit mine too.

borntobequiet · 14/12/2022 07:15

I have some fine merino wool “trouser” socks I got from JL some years ago. The difference they make in cold weather compared to any other material is striking.

abblie · 14/12/2022 07:16

I bought a wool duvet a few years ago and best thing I ever bought

Aramox · 14/12/2022 07:19

Alpaca socks are divine, especially the terry fluffy ones!

Maggiesgirl · 14/12/2022 07:21

I've knitted the whole family Merino pure wool socks over the last few winters. Just had another request from DDIL for a new pair.

countrygirl99 · 14/12/2022 07:41

I have some alpaca socks I bought in Finland and I've been machine washing them for a year. Going back in Feb and hoping to get some more.

Hooverphobe · 14/12/2022 07:41

I’ve got a pack of this season’s M&S thermals (the 3 pack with the pink) and they’re good - but these are truly bliss www.pairs-scotland.com/

destroyed all my smart wool ski socks - actually i take that back, not destroyed - just worn to death.
