Well that was different. I had to Google what it actually means.

I don't know what words other people are getting but there's no way the word I solved today would be a starter word or a random guess. It just wouldn't. It definitely falls into the weird and obscure category of words.

@BruceAndNosh - I know both words. My original word which was accepted and also the ‘other’ word.

@Lindy2 - depends which word you got! The word I got could very well have been a starter word. The other not so much!

I do believe the thing with 2 different words had happened before for a short while - does anyone else remember that or am I losing my marbles?

I had what you'd call a tricky word, but I didn't find it tricky, partly because I found a couple of key letters early on so I didn't have a lot of other options.

I've just opened Wordle in Chrome and in Private Browsing (I always use Firefox) and it was the same word in all of them (I'm now a genius with a 1 on both those stats too), so no sign of a second word here.

I could see the appeal of it as a starter word. Takes out some good letters.

Yes, the word FETUS had been entered into the database months in advance but was removed when Roe v Wade was repealed. Those who hadn't refreshed their browser still got that word, others didn't.

Never heard of the word before but I ran out of letters!

Today’s ‘weird’ word is one I’ve had before, as I was WTF about it at the time.

I refreshed my browser and had the same experience as a PP. It still says I got the word in 4 but the grid shows my guesses against the other word, ie not right at all.

Blimey. Just come back and seen the confusion.
I was really surprised @Peridot1 was surprised by the blank faces on today's word but it now makes sense. I will be fascinated to find out what the alternative was.
I liked learning today's word which like others I had only come across it as a part of a longer, associated word.

And I can remember there being 2 words on at least 2 other occasions.

I've just opened wordle and my grid is blank (again). Stats in place but today's game gone
Seems like they're having a day of glitches.

Every day's a school day!

I read an article this week that NYT have installed a new editor for wordle and they have adjusted the Solution List that Josh Wardle created.
I also had a few days where I got a new "welcome" message when I opened the page... There was one day when I did 2 lines then had to go out and it welcomed me back saying I had used 2 guesses.
So I'm wondering if all the weirdness today is part of new editor tweaking the format.
