Could this be a blood clot?

I maybe worrying about nothing, that is not unheard of!
however, I had had a productive cough for around 8 weeks, was given an inhaler by GP and told I’d need a chest X-ray if it didn’t go away in 2 weeks, it seemed to get better, then it came back, I then tested positive for covid, been testing negative for a few days now.
I have some swelling on my upper shin, under the knee, today while just sat on a chair at work I got an intense sharp pain in the area but thought nothing of it, noticed that a bruise has appeared in the area with swelling and where I felt the pain.
move had some minor cramping, and there’s some mild pain in my foot, but that seems muscular more than anything, and it is very minor. I also broke my foot in august so very well may be related to that. Also it’s not in the same place as the swelling.
mild breathlessness on and off for the past couple of months. But again, very mild.
I can’t even decide if it is actual swelling in my leg or if i’m just imaging it due to anxiety! so im going to add a photo.
my heart rate is high too, consistently between 110 and 125 at rest. It’s been high for a few weeks now though.
I feel like i should speak to the out of hours GP, but then in the back of my mind, I wonder whether this is just anxiety.
I will definitely speak to them, but just wanted opinions on the swelling that I am “perceiving”
It’s the left leg, below the knee. No pain in my calf.

Around a 30 to 40 minute taxi ride, at this time of night most likely 30.

That's not too bad. You'll be ok, they will look after you.

Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 03:06

I just have a gut feeling that it’s nothing.
mom in my way anyway to possibly waste their time! Just got another call from out of hours asking if I was on the way.

It could quite possibly be nothing but it's best to get it checked out. You're definitely not wasting anyones time and plus the NHS told you to go. Don't feel guilty, that's what they are there for.

I went for chest pain not long ago which I think was indigestion. Ecg was normal but they couldn’t get my blood (they never can)
they give me omeprazole which I never took because it fine the day after. (Never had heartburn etc before apart from in pregnancy and this was worse) it was so painful, but it may have been the beginning of covid? I think I read somewhere that it can cause sudden reflux.
they were concerned about by blood pressure and pulse though and said I should get a monitor or something from my GP, because they were both very high and wouldn’t come down
my dad thought he just had heartburn when he had his heart attack though and almost didn’t go to the hospital! Which is why I went.

My dad had a blood clot in his arm, but had no symptoms. Well he thought he had tennis elbow, because that’s what the GP said.

RosieRooster83 · 16/11/2022 03:13

Have you had high blood pressure for a while then?

RosieRooster83 · 16/11/2022 03:51

How is everything OP?

Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 03:55

I’ve had high blood pressure for the last month or so, since the cough started. I know my blood pressure was perfect before because I had to take it daily for my specialist. I don’t take their medication anymore. But I obviously still have the monitor.
mot used to be perfectly average, 120 over 80

I’m waiting to be triaged

OP, hope you're now at A & E and that you don't have a long wait.

You aren't wasting anyone's time. Your readings are low and should be checked out, also that bruising and possible swelling should be looked at. Your health matters! That's exactly what the NHS is there to do.

Do make sure you mention your family history and your recent Covid. And show them the pictures of the oxygen etc readings you showed here and your leg and recent fracture history.

Covid can increase the risk of blood clots, so this is an important thing to point out. But clots can be treated with drug combinations. And it could be other things. My dh had a red, hot swollen leg a couple of years ago that 111 decided was cellulitis and sent him off to A & E urgently for medication. He was fine very quickly once he got the right medication.

You're absolutely not wasting anyone's time! You seem to have something - which strangers on here can't diagnose - that needs treatment. But that doesn't mean you need to worry about it. If you're going to A & E you can get appropriate treatment.

Everyone gets ill. Seeking a diagnosis and treatment is commonsense. It's how we get better. Glad you asked on here and called 111.

I ok not have the blood pressure monitor because I had to five readings to my specialist. I got the sat monitor a few weeks ago because of random breathlessness which was more like forgetting to breath and shallow breathing rather than feeling like I couldn’t breath. It was like a very very calm state where I was forgetting t breath:
And I got the inhaler because the GP said I had a wheeze:

Omg sorry for the typos! It’s the anxiety

OP posts:
Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 04:15

And my pulse has always been higher than usual, usually around 100. But last few weeks it’s been around 120.

Are you at A&E yet, OP? Or on the way there?

You don't need to worry, whatever it is, they can treat it. If it is clots, they can find them and treat them. If it’s something else, they can diagnose it and treat it.

Have you got a relaxing book or something you can read or a podcast or something to listen to take your mind off worrying while you're waiting?

But in your shoes, I would get to A&E soon - they'll triage you, so if not seen as a priority, while annoying at least you can know it's not that urgent. And if seen soon, you'll get whatever care you need quickly.

Do keep us updated x

xxyzz · 16/11/2022 04:19

A temporarily raised pulse is quite common after Covid.

So don't stress. But do get your range of symptoms checked out soon.

Fraaahnces · 16/11/2022 04:29

Just let them do whatever tests they need to get a diagnosis and then you can relax. Not knowing is much worse than worrying about the end of the world.

Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 04:37

I’m at a&e but not been triaged yet. It’s so busy.

OP posts:
Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 04:38

I was meant to have bloods months ago because of random rashes and bruising. But I missed the appointment 😩 so now I’m worrying about leukaemia or something.
probably anxiety though!

OP posts:
RosieRooster83 · 16/11/2022 04:57

Have they said how long the wait is tonight at A&E? Hope everything is going ok.

Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 04:58

And yes, I do wonder whether I had covid for the last couple of months even though I tested negative until last Saturday.may all he covid relayed. I’m not vaccinated apart from the very first vaccine.
would explain the cough.

OP posts:
BeethovenNinth · 16/11/2022 05:01

Hope you are OK OP. Was also going to suggest A and E

Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 05:01

I don’t now the wait time but it looks like there are 4 people in front of me to be triaged so shouldn’t be long. It is the next but that takes forever! Waiting for a doctor.
I wish they had ultrasounds at GP surgeries

OP posts:
Worriedaboutnothingmaybe · 16/11/2022 05:02

*know.

I do know how to spell!
but there are so many spelling errors tonight from me. I blame anxiety 😳

OP posts:
RosieRooster83 · 16/11/2022 05:30

Shouldn't be too long now to be triaged then. Yes waiting to see a Doctor is the long part unfortunately. Hopefully you can be back cosy in your bed soon.

QueenOfTheMetaverse · 16/11/2022 08:07

Good luck - hope they sort your leg quickly!
