So dull but healthy teen snacks

I know. But dd13 is forever moaning there is nothing to eat. For school lunch, after school etc.

They eat a bit too much processed stuff as it is so I'm looking for stuff which is a bit healthy. They have access to toast, fruit etc of course. I try to get them to go for plain yoghurt and add bits but that's a non starter.

I don't have heaps of time but can do a bit of batch cooking if a Sunday and they can reheat in the air fryer - they are pros....

I bought some me toaster bags so DC can make their own toasties.

So easy - make a sandwich, put it in the bag then put the bag in the toaster! Favourites are cheese with whatever is in the fridge- tomato, ham etc.

Also they like making quesadillas- put topping on a wrap (so leftover chicken, guacamole, grated cheese etc). pop another wrap on the top and press down. Dry fry in a frying pan for a couple of minutes each side till the filling is hot and melty.

They also like
Sushi
Tortilla chips and fresh salsa
Hummus and breadsticks or toasted pita
Cheese, crackers, grapes
Chopped up fruit and berries
Pot noodles 🤦🏻‍♀️
Bananas
I make things like banana bread, muffins and flapjacks with reduced sugar.

And those who are questioning why teens need snacks - my DS is 15 and he definitely does. He has 3 huge and relatively health meals per day but is usually hungry between meals too. He's skinny as a stick but definitely growing up and filling out!

ds(18) was the same aged 16-17 as he grew in front of my eyes. "Snacks" were meals to normal people!

Breakfast - Huge bowl of porridge, banana and milk just before 8am
School Snack - A well filled chicken and ham salad wrap at 11am
School Lunch - 2 course around 1pm
Back from school Snack - Protein yoghurt and/or biscuits/flapjack, fruit, sliced or cooked chicken etc at 3pm-ish
Dinner - just before 6pm
Supper - huge bowl of cereal/milk with another banana or 2-3 eggs (cheese omelette or scrambled with beans) or tuna/sweetcorn pasta etc around 8-9pm

Plus occasional snacks/treats in between.

He felt weak/ill if he didn't eat enough and consistently through the day. God help anyone that came between him and his breakfast after not eating all night!

He stayed slim, but sprouted to 6ft 2in, has horizontal stretch marks across his back from the growth spurts, went up to shoe size 12, hands are now huge, his shoulders and chest have broadened considerably and he has proper mans arms.

He still has a healthy appetite but it has calmed down a lot now both in quantity and frequency, not sure my weekly shop could have coped with that amount of food with all the current cost increases!
