Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I've just made my first cup of tea of the day & am enjoying the quiet while I drink it & have a virtual wander round the Internet.

I have loads I want to get done today; I've brought the washing basket and ironing down with me, but first tea ☕️

I need to do a few repairs and hem some curtains, make a prototype for my Rainbows activity this week, and check my Christmas list against what's in the box.

There's some other bits too but dd2 wants to try making hot chocolate stirrers and sugar mice, so we might not get to them.

I'll see if the girls' dad will nip to Asda or Lidl for me -he'll only buy what I ask for whereas I usually wind up with several munchy items from the bakery/sweet aisles 🙄

We're having pork loin steaks for tea, probably with some salad bits and garlicky potatoes 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

@Propertyporn I'd be admiring him too, he's lovely ⛄️

@DreamingofItaly2023 happy birthday to you 🎉 Fingers crossed your ds is on the mend soon!

@NightOwl101 that's a normal day...I hate sitting still 🤷‍♀️

@MollyVolley enjoy putting your tree up! It's a bit early for ours to go up, but I have been getting out little bits and bobs over the past couple of weeks. I love the sparkle & it all makes me happy 🎄

Tidying the garden ‘office’ which i have dumped a load of stuff in thinking I won’t use it again until next year … and then DH announced his dad and step mum are coming on Friday to stay the night and it’s the only place we have a double bed so I need to actually properly tidy it and make it look like we want them to visit (we do - they are lovely!)

Also tidying a load of stuff out of the kids rooms that we tidied last week but then ran of it steam at the end - everything needs to be boxed up and put in the loft

A sorting day in beautiful winter sunshine 🥰

MendaciousMabel · 13/11/2022 09:52

About to run some errands to get everything out the way so I can have a relaxing afternoon. Making a cottage pie for tea tonight and then hopefully early to bed as I slept terribly last night

Thighdentitycrisis · 13/11/2022 09:52

I’m going to sweep the leaves and might make a trip to Wilko for some paint

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 13/11/2022 09:54

DH has gone to pick DD up from his mums l. We were at the Kaiser Chiefs gig last night so she stayed there overnight.

Then he has a batch of homemade wine ready to bottle and store so he will get on with that while I read my Christmas Good Food magazine and so get another order amend for Asda depending on what lovely things I decide to make! I would love to get the tree up but he is a firm no and says it's too early. I'm very jealous of your Christmas themed day @MollyVolley

Then I'm starting my new job tomorrow so I need to set up my home working desk with all new equipment and make sure passwords etc all work.

Dinner is hog roast sandwiches with stuffing and apple sauce, roasties on the side and sprouts with red onion and bacon. Yum!

Kim82 · 13/11/2022 09:56

Morning everyone.

We’ve had a slow start today, we only got up just past 9am and the two teenagers are still asleep. I’m shattered as I only got to bed at 3.15am after picking 18yo dd up from her trial shift in a pub (she did great and was offered the job which she has taken - yay!).

Dh is going to visit his parents as they have a few jobs they need him to help with in the garden, dd8 wants to go with him so they’ll be gone for most of the afternoon. I plan on having a nap at some point, I also need to iron school uniforms and make the apple crumble I was meant to make last week with the 15yo when she rises from her out at some point this afternoon.

Ds said he might pop up for a few hours today but it’s Sunday, he’s probably be hungover and I know his boyfriend came up to see him this weekend and will still be there so I can’t imagine he’ll turn up 😂

Curry for tea then sprawl on the sofa watching tv for a couple of hours and early to bed for me.

lucysmam · 13/11/2022 09:58

@Kim82 well done to your dd 🌟

@OnTheRunWithMannyMontana did you enjoy the gig? I looked at tickets but didn't book in the end; I expect next time The Killers tour they won't be just down the road for home so I'm saving for that already 🙈

Catching up with my paperwork this morning, then MIL is coming for lunch. Afterwards we'll go for a walk and then it's F1 watching this evening.

Church isn’t until 10.45 because it’s Remembrance Day, and we’re singing/bell-ringing. So heading out for dog walk now, then to church.
Quick lunch before planting MORE bulbs (must stop buying them…) and possibly a final lawn mow. To Granny’s at about 4.30 for Roast Chicken and posh ice cream.

I'm also just about to head out for some half muffled ringing then join the village for our remembrance service. This afternoon I plan to zoom into another morning service in the USA and join their veterans service it's interesting to see the similarities and differences.

monicagellerbing · 13/11/2022 10:18

It's my daughters 6th birthday on Tuesday so today is her party at soft play! She's very excited, I'm nervous as I've never hosted a party before! It's costing an arm and a leg but it's worth it for her first ever party.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 13/11/2022 10:35

@lucysmam they were amazing as always, third time we have seen them now. And they put on such a good show for leeds with it being their hometown. Support acts were also really good.

I've got no voice left this morning and I ache all over from over-exuberant dancing but it were worth it... I tell thee!

Notjusta · 13/11/2022 10:42

Morning - I am a bit worse for wear after a lovely dinner party last night but too much wine 😬😬 Fortunately DH is taking the kids out all day! I think I will lie on the sofa and watch crap on TV!

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 13/11/2022 10:44

👋 @lucysmam

We’ve had birthday cake and coffee for breakfast. Now we’re having a cup of tea. I’m browsing MN (so far, the Litter Tray,
Poncetastic thread, CC thread and this one!) and slowly waking up.

In a little while I will catch up on my reading of the Christmas Chronicles.

After that I’m going to have a good long soak in the bath. Need to get my nails sorted too.

We have no hard and fast plans today. But I know I need to do a quick shop. Also want to get some more apples from the tree out front - there is mincemeat to be made! And Christmas cake!

I’ve got lentils soaking in preparation for making dal later. I also need to sit down and make some lists/notes for our dinner party menu for Saturday.

I want to dig out my pack of air drying clay and make some little hearts for a garland I’m planning for the staircase. But I’m not sure I’ll get round to that today.

This evening I’ll just relax with DH (Sunday night is our bonus weekend night as he no longer works on Monday).

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 13/11/2022 10:46

@Propertyporn he is an absolute beauty! Love him.

Simonjt · 13/11/2022 10:48

We’ve been on a long dog walk this morning and we stopped for hot chocolate and waffles.

This afternoon I’m helping my son with his homework, we’ve got to make a family tree so we need to pick photos of people to print out for it.

My husbands out with the baby and some friends, so I’m not sure what time they’ll be home. We’re going to watch homeward bound tonight at my sons request, such a good film.

AlisonDonut · 13/11/2022 10:50

I've been round the garden in the sun, and now off to a Plant Fair with seeds to swap. They are selling food there so if we see anything veggie we'll have that but otherwise I'll be cooking a roast dinner later on with the magnificent Romanesco Cauli harvested fresh from my garden.

InFiveMins · 13/11/2022 10:51

Morning all

We tend to spend Sundays at home, because we like to have a busy Saturday and then a chilled Sunday before a new week starts again.

I've been up a while and done most of my chores for the day.

I'll make a pan of soup shortly to take to work for lunch during the week, and then I plan to watch the new Christmas film on Netflix with Lindsay Lohan in it. Might be rubbish but we love cheesy Christmas films. Or we'll watch one of the ones showing on Channel 5 today Grin

For tea I'm planning roasting a whole chicken and having chicken fajitas with wedges and salad. I'll make it whilst enjoying a few glasses of wine.

Then we'll watch IACGMOOH and then bed!

RenoDakota · 13/11/2022 11:02

I have been feeling unwell for over a week - low level flu like aches and pains etc (not Covid as have been testing daily because of my job).
So today have had a massive lie in and am now on sofa covered up with a blanket and about to watch two Channel 5 Christmas films recorded yesterday.
PS: love this thread - all your lives sound lovely and cosy and idyllic. But am very aware that there will be just as many going through shit at the moment, and not posting about it.

Ooh lucky you with some sunshine! It's like pea soup up here! They have even closed the airport.

Propertyporn · 13/11/2022 11:05

Heading out shortly to get my boobs squeezed in Morrisons car park

🤣🤣🤣

JamSandle · 13/11/2022 11:06

Trip to the coast this morning. I didnt want to get up but feel so refreshed now. I have some sort things to sort out for my holiday but otherwise catching up and enjoying time with family at home.

Peridot1 · 13/11/2022 11:23

Very cute snowman @Propertyporn.

I get my boobs squeezed in a Morrisons car park too @SomethingNastyInTheBallPool! Basingstoke.

Hog roast sandwiches plus your accompaniments sounds yum @OnTheRunWithMannyMontana.

onwardandupwards · 13/11/2022 11:46

Morning everyone, I'm busy tidying up and packing a bag as finally having my gall bladder and stones removed tomorrow! So trying to get as much done for the next week as I can, 2 year old ds has discovered stickle bricks and is currently sat stacking them altogether. We will go to the park later for a hour or 2, pie and mash for tea for kids, soup for me.

EternalStench · 13/11/2022 12:00

Met up with a friend for a coffee and walk this morning.
Dc doing homework
I'm prepping some food to chuck in the oven later and doing flapjacks and lemon traybake for packed lunches and snacks, all while listening to my audiobook.
Then doing some admin stuff and cleaning the bathroom at some point.
Looking forward to relaxing with a film this evening.

Giggorata · 13/11/2022 12:08

Morning all. A slow start today, as a late night last night.
I'm thinking about what to do for brunch, I fancy something cheesy.
Then seize the chance to sweep up some dry leaves in the yard and take them down to the land for my hedgehog houses. I might even wobble down on my bike.
Then I will check who is playing Snooker today and will either sort out my vast SF magazine collection whilst watching, or sort out some washing, folding, etc upstairs, whilst listening to my book.
DH's cottage pie awaits us for dinner.
