Crowded House for me. DH is cooking and put them on. Amazing voice and lyrics. I haven't heard them for ages.

I do love Crowded House. Distant Sun lifts my soul like no other song can.

I love crowded house too! They are totally not my era, but my mum always had them on when I was little. I had a beautiful holiday with my sister a few years ago where we re discovered them. Gorgeous voice and it just stirred so much nostalgia in us!

Placebo

HarrietSchulenberg · 12/11/2022 21:32

Half Man Half Biscuit. Lyrics are brilliantly observed poetry with tunes that get stuck in your head.

charabang · 12/11/2022 21:38

You're all so cool. I came on here to say Bucks Fizz and Five Star 😊

But they were never really good. 🤷‍♀️

I’m having a big resurgence of Squeeze and The Eagles.

What’s not to love about this ....

I’m off to see Squeeze ( or what’s left of them ) at the end of this month , and was watching an Eagles concert on Sky Arts last night .

I recently rediscovered Garbage, I forgot how good they are!

OMG yes 🙌

UltimateIrritant · 12/11/2022 21:49

Pink Floyd
Tears for Fears
REM

There were a good few years, whilst the offspring were young - when I somehow forgot to listen to music!
Now I enjoy sharing my 'superior' musical taste with them. Especially whilst in the car as they can't escape 😁

Claudia84 · 12/11/2022 21:50

Toto

HowDoYouOwnDisorder · 12/11/2022 21:55

System Of A Down

Can't stop listening to Toxicity album right now

May need to listen to Disturbed again too @AllThingsServeTheBeam

CrepuscularCritter · 12/11/2022 21:59

I'm off to see Squeeze tomorrow: the last time I saw them was more than 20 years ago, although I've seen Glen Tilbrook and Chris Difford solo over the past couple of years.

I also get the Tears For Fears love. Someone else back doing great gigs is Peter Hook - he's been on the festival circuit for the past couple of years and has been brilliant.

We were listening to SOAD last night, my MIL can't believe how much I dislike them so she kept putting different songs on and being like "but what about this one? You MUST like this one? It's so good!" 😂 Wine had been drunk.

Nadal · 12/11/2022 22:02

Queen.

Watched Bohemian Rhapsody and can't believe how good they were. Thought they were old fogies in 80s but really they were so good.

Whataboutno · 12/11/2022 22:04

Oh my so many system of a down fans, I love them! I saw them in Brixton when I was 15 and me and my friend got absolutely battered, it was great!

LeeHarper5 · 12/11/2022 22:05

Deacon Blue
Feeder
REM
Dire Straits (Reminds me of my Dad)

Whataboutno · 12/11/2022 22:05

Also their music has aged really well and still sounds great to me

DreamingofBrie · 12/11/2022 22:09

Aztec Camera. Roddy Frame is a brilliant songwriter with a beautiful voice.

RiftGibbon · 12/11/2022 22:13

Midnight Oil. I was a fan in the late 80s, and over the years gradually stopped listening to them, and then believed that they had stopped when the lead singer went into politics.
Thankfully discovered early this year that they had got back together some time ago and caught them in concert in July. Now annoying everyone at home by playing all their stuff.

Also dug out lots of old Aussie music which still sounds good: INXS, Colin Hay, Spy Vs Spy, The Saints, Goanna, Paul Kelly..

Oh I love Aztec Camera. I was a member of their fan club as a teen. I still feel a burst of happiness when Oblivious comes on the radio. Plus the amazing cover of Jump.

So happy to see some love for REM and The Smiths, two of my all-time favorites!

pigalow27 · 12/11/2022 22:32

Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - amazing songs like Rattlesnakes and Perfect Skin.

SingingSands · 12/11/2022 22:43

George Michael.

Was i spired to listen again by one of DD's friends being a fan (unusual for an 18yr old lad I thought!). Went back to listen to George and my god, I cried. He has the voice of an Angel.

Olivia Newton John. Completely off my radar since Physical in 1982. Rediscovered her around a year ago, couldn’t believe how I could forget her, especially all her Country singles/albums of the early to mid 70s.
