Do you think it's weird or not that christmas tree baubles literally come in every possible variation these days?

I was looking earlier. I wonder who buys the bag-of-chips bauble or the wrench-tool bauble or the head-of-broccoli bauble? Do you like weird & wacky xmas decs?

@Needmorelego do you have a link as I can't find it

@longtompot oh I can't find it now on Amazon 😕
I just googled 'platypus Christmas decorations' and it came up. Several on Etsy etc.

I love this sort of thing. I have to hold myself back from buying tons. Asda has a great selection this year. My tree is full of decorations from all sorts of places and I have a wild assortment of the weird and wonderful: kitchen aid mixer, shark, felted star wars characters, a squid, popcorn packet etc. I also have loads of homemade ones that the kids made over the years. I've just bought a gorgeous felted reindeer from TX Maxx - he has a really perturbed expression and I love him already.

All you tat lovers will be pleased to know that my stylist friend said overdone designer trees are no longer as popular - all the Christmas sets she's doing this year are much more playful and nostalgic with lots of colour.

Another one who has two trees.

My "downstairs" tree is my nice one. Always real, decorations and lights are coordinated.

My upstairs tree is fake, has no theme, has tinsel 😳 and multi coloured lights and all the ornaments are random.

Well I don't think I'd buy the ones you describe necessarily, but I do have a lot of odd ones, because I collect them from holidays.

I have 'pair of clogs' and 'dodo in a Christmas hat' and 'Eiffel tower' and 'glass sloth' among many others.

We do that... Kangaroo with a Santa hat, 101 Dalmatians with Santa hats, Eiffel Tower... the list goes on . Some people buy tea towels and shot glasses to remind them of their travels we buy Christmas decorations

I bloody love the random baubles all over my tree. Like many others we all pick a new one each year, I occasionally buy a set if I like them. We have a popcorn machine, balloon dogs, giant pompoms, a crocodile...

What I don't love is how enormous some of them are, I'm looking at you, Paperchase. They are 8-10cm long plus string length and while I'm sure they look great on the giant display tree, they don't suit a regular 6 footer.

Rockbird · 15/11/2022 19:19

God no, I'm a total traditionalist when it comes to Christmas. My girls choose a new decoration each year but they're not into wacky stuff either, at least where Christmas is concerned.

Everyone else can crack on though! These trees full of flamingos and avocado toast must be a sight to behold! 😀

I’m an inveterate snob over my own tasteful decs, but I quite like a tacky mish-mash when I see it on someone else’s home.

Me too. I have a running joke with my partner's sister where I buy her a couple of new baubles each year for her tree. Last year it was an electric drill and a carrot. This year she's getting a cafetiere and an artichoke. She loves it!

Love them. You can't get nice plastic ones. Wilko baubles are my compromise between having cats, and Christmas tree in one house.
