Handhold please - newborn in NICU

She was born this morning via elective section and isn't doing so well. Currently ventilated in NICU, arterial line in and leads on her head monitoring brain activity for seizures.

I can't go to her yet because my spinal block hasn't worn off. I haven't met her or touched her 😭

Oh what a lovely update. And that’s not stupid at all, sometimes you just need your babies close Flowers

Hugasauras · 04/01/2023 14:24

At seven weeks she should be sleeping in the same room as you, especially with a NICU start, so definitely don't feel silly about that! It's the best thing for her Flowers

You don't need to put her upstairs! Your instinct is to keep her with you, listen to it. SIDS guidance is for them to stay with you for 6 months anyway x

Oh mumma! I know I’m a few years late to the post but I’m currently going through this with my 6 day old DD in NICU so I feel your pain.
I hope all was good with your DD in the end and she’s doing well now ♥️

Hope you're ok @FlamboyantEagle - do you have plenty of support?

The staff have been amazing and I’ve been allowed access all day long. I’ve even been lucky enough to make mum friends with others on the unit :)
Im praying that her stay won’t be much longer
