I've ate raw turkey in the carvery

Hi,

Wondering what to do. Had a carvery with DH, I had gammon, he had turkey. He drowned his in mint gravy (hence why I couldn't tell it was raw initially). He didn't like it, didn't say why but he's picky with food anyway so I ate some, it was really moist, flavourless but it wasn't so bad and then on my fourth or so bite it was like absolute jelly. I stopped there, moved pieces about and seen the underneath layers looked raw?

At this point, I called staff but they were really busy and I had a screaming 1 year old and tired and fed up 3 year old. I left, with the intention to call back. I couldn't get through, I'm guessing because it was busy.

Now I'm having cramps and sweats but I don't know if I've somehow got myself paranoid.

What do I do? And now terrified of puking because I have a fear of being sick Sad

I thought the turkey was swimming in gravy?

IncessantNameChanger · 09/11/2022 19:18

When did you eat it? I got bad food poisoning but it took days to become evident. There was a public health investigation it was that bad

ecnatsid · 09/11/2022 19:19

@KilmordenCastle the top layer was, if you read my post I clearly state I moved it about and had a look underneath.

That looks vile, you need ro report that to environmental health, I would speak to 111 if youre feeling unwell.

amylou8 · 09/11/2022 19:22

Stuff like this makes me please I'm veggie! Even if it is raw it will only make you ill if it's contaminated. The bird will have been vaccinated against salmonella. Its highly unlike to make you sick.

PumpkinGhoul · 09/11/2022 19:22

Both me and DH one year accidentally ate Raw turkey we were both fine no sickness or anything. Like you I was worried at first but thankfully nothing.

ecnatsid · 09/11/2022 19:24

I'm hoping it's anxiety making me feel sick rather than food poisoning.

Raw!
I'd make myself sick I think 🤢

Harrysnippleno3 · 09/11/2022 19:28

Yes it's raw and I don't know why people are questioning you.

doggodramas · 09/11/2022 19:29

I ate raw chicken a couple of weeks ago. Was satay chicken smothered in sauce from a takeaway. Half way through I noticed the middle was bright pink. I worried and worried all night as I also have a sick phobia, but I was absolutely fine!

Anoisagusaris · 09/11/2022 19:09

Yes that’s raw looking to me!

But why was your DH mortified? No need for him to be feel embarrassed.

I think some people use mortified to mean devastated. It’s getting more common.

Wherediditallgo · 09/11/2022 19:32

I don’t think it is raw. You can’t see the muscle fibres like that in raw poultry. It has the texture of cooked meat.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 09/11/2022 19:33

I ate green ham once. Fully green. In a toasted cheese sandwich which I was REALLY enjoying to my absolute shame. That’s what made me feel sick to start, the knowledge of it.

i did get the runs two days later and it was no where near as bad as I was expecting. I’d send that to food.gov and complain to the place too.

was of a Toby?

Greenshake · 09/11/2022 19:37

I don’t understand why you didn’t raise it at the time. Surely your husband could have dealt with the kids for 5 minutes?

ecnatsid · 09/11/2022 19:38

@Greenshake I tried.

Well, I guess you either choose to pursue it via Environmental Health or chalk it up to a bad experience. I personally would not have left, having been served that meat, without getting my point across.

Why is everyone so suspicious these days!

alottea · 09/11/2022 19:10

Besides the bits of fat, that looks pink and raw. This isnt galmon, so Its meant to be white like chicken.

I think you should see a doctor very soon, because ive heard of people eating raw chicken and ending up hospitalised because they get very ill.

What's a doctor going to do for someone who may or may not develop food poisoning?

I can't be doing with the comments that are questioning me. I've done nothing wrong here, so I won't be commenting further. Thank you.

One last question, which carvery place was it ? In going to my local next week, I'll take my own meat probe.

HeyHeyHeyyyyy · 09/11/2022 19:51

You would've had ample opportunity to talk to someone about the food. Why didn't you say something to the person who took your plates away? Who you settled your bill with? There's usually (but not always) someone at the door greeting. So why now? You always speak up in when in the restaurant.

maddiemookins16mum · 09/11/2022 19:53

Looks raw to me, unusual for a carvery as it would be spotted at the point of carving. However, I don’t get how you found time to take photos, start a post on here (what do you want from us?) and yet don’t say that you’ve called the restaurant to discuss your concerns. Was this actually tonight?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 09/11/2022 19:53

YABU to mention carvery when I’m sitting here STARVING.

Even the raw turkey covered in mint sauce hasn’t put me off. Stick peckish.

keeprunningupthathill · 09/11/2022 19:54

There's nothing you CAN do now apart from wait to see if you're sick or not.

keeprunningupthathill · 09/11/2022 19:54

It does look uncooked though. But you'll prob be fine.
