Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I've just about drunk my first cup of tea. The only noise is the fridge humming away in here, and occasional bird sound from outside. Lovely!

I said the other day that I wanted a day of "nothing" so have done pretty much everything that needs to be done so I can have a proper day off. I do have 2 wash loads but don't mind them.

We're going to wander to the little asda for some chocolate to try hot chocolate stirrers, and I started pinning a zip in dd2's bag so will probably finish that off. I need to finish off pipe cleaner broomsticks for work too but they'll not take long.

We're having roast pork for tea, not sure whether as a roast or sarnys yet, followed by M&Ms fudge bought at the artisan market we went to yesterday.

Tonight I'll either crochet, or paint my nails then read while they dry. Just not sure which yet.

What about all of you 🙂

Was rather rudely awaken by the neighbours feral kids screaming for a good ten minutes in the street at 6am... so my morning hasn't gone great as I couldn't get back to sleep.
(The kids are fine they do it every weekend on the trot.)

Today is a day for homework, baking a cake with DCs and I promised ds6 we'd do some water colour painting. So nice easy Sunday I hope!

User57713 · 06/11/2022 09:30

Good luck @addler !

Not sure anyone can top that level of excitement.

I'm in Dublin, here for the rugby yesterday and having a day wandering around before our flight home this evening.

It's a beautiful day here

TeddyTed · 06/11/2022 09:30

I’m away in a nice hotel for our wedding anniversary. I can hear York Minster’s bells just now from the room, it’s lovely. Visiting the Minster later on this morning, then we’re off to start a little Christmas shopping. We’ve booked a lovely Thai restaurant we know for tonight. Home tomorrow 🙁

Breathmiller · 06/11/2022 09:31

Ooh addler all good luck your way for getting thise squishy newborn cuddles by the end of the day.

Busy day here (not as busy as addler though😊).

Rugby drop off with the youngest.

Pick up my car from outside garage to bring home for dh to fix himself this week.

Make lunch (perhaps spiced lentil soup).
Drop off oldest ds at job in town.
Pick up oldest dd and gs for a visit (favourite thing ever).
Go to the shops with dd who wants a wander.
Home for lunch.

Back to drop off dd and gs for the train.
Think the eternal question of what to have for dinner.
Washing.

Clear out fridge and see what we have for the week.
Maybe shopping.
Get dh to do my undercut. Cut my fringe.

Dinner.
Baths/showers and ready for the week.

cobblers123 · 06/11/2022 09:31

Put together a big heavy duty plastic dog kennel yesterday and in between rain showers, hope to get it outside and put the cat's litter tray in it right outside the cat flap so he he won't have to keep digging masses of holes all over my garden when he needs to a pee and a poo.

Apart from that, at the moment, nothing else planned except a bit of housework.

mamabear715 · 06/11/2022 09:32

@User57713 & @TeddyTed How lovely, enjoy!

iamnotanalcoholic70 · 06/11/2022 09:32

Have just enjoyed a coffee without the malevolent presence of my mother in law who went back home yesterday having spent 6 weeks with us recuperating from surgery. I now have the joy of fumigating the bedroom and bathroom she used as she refused to let the cleaner on for the entire time🙄

AllotmentTime · 06/11/2022 09:33

Morning all

@addler Good luck! Hope it’s all smooth and easy!

I’ve just had my first coffee and contemplating a second. DCat and DH are snoozing next to me, the DC are gaming downstairs.

Today’s big jobs are a) laundry because I didn’t finish the twenty million loads from yesterday, and b) helping DD finish her school project.

Also could do with thinking of something fun to do indoors (not crafts). DH and DS both get cabin fever if they’re stuck inside and it’s absolutely hammering down with rain today…

Later we will be having a roast chicken and watching Strictly. DH and I always have a roast just the two of us, it’s one of my favourite bits of the week.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/11/2022 09:33

Morning all, not a lot. I've put the Xmas bedding on. May be a bit early but I was singing in choir at a Christmas craft fair yesterday so I'm in the mood! About to grab a coffee and read my kindle. May think about the gym later.

mamabear715 · 06/11/2022 09:33

Omg @iamnotanalcoholic70 Enjoy the peace as you clean..

BlueWalnut · 06/11/2022 09:37

How lovely!

Just put a pot of coffee on the stove and got back into bed. It’s a wet day so preparing a chicken roast dinner for my parents, who are coming over later. And have a big pile of clothes mending to do.

Fixesplease · 06/11/2022 09:40

Lovely lie in (woke up at 9, unheard of for me!) DP and DS stayed at the grandparents last night so not due home till 5ish.

I have been redecorating the hallway for what feels like decades but I'm on the home straight now and intend to get it finished today.

But first.. more tea!

EternalStench · 06/11/2022 09:14

A strenuous trip to the recycling centre and charity shop. We had a massive clear out this week and I can't believe the amount of junk we hoarded.
Then a nice dinner and dessert.

Our house too. Already dropped some clothes to the clothing bank and having a quick mumsnet before leaving for the council tip in a minute, once it's opened. Will be first of a few runs today. I can't believe how much we've got to get rid of!

YaffleYaffle · 06/11/2022 09:42

DH is going to a football match. I’m still in bed because DCat is cuddling with me. I really want a cup of coffee but I don’t want to move him yet!

In a bit I’ll get up and shower before going over to see my parents.

DH made a shepherd’s pie yesterday and we’re having the rest of that for dinner.

Anapana · 06/11/2022 09:48

Oooh if it’s Koh San Rd I’m jealous

surlycurly · 06/11/2022 09:48

I'm going to be in bed all day today after breaking my shoulder in a car accident yesterday. My third this year. I just want to bury myself away and not deal with all the hassle I have in front of me!

GnomeDePlume · 06/11/2022 09:49

@addler best wishes!

Been swimming and just had breakfast.

Going to do my Sunday morning clean of the ground floor. This is a full hoover & mop. Ground floor toilet is already cleaned.

After that to Hobbycraft and get some thread. After that I am going to finish making Christmas cushions.

Axlcat · 06/11/2022 09:50

My mum stayed last night and we are just waking up. A wander through our local street food market and then looking at the Christmas things in the local garden centre and lunch there.

BankyWollocks · 06/11/2022 09:50

Good luck @addler
@dementedma that sounds amazing , I'm jealous!

Notwashingup · 06/11/2022 09:54

@addler how exciting, I hope all goes well.
I'm still recovering from surgery. Been home 10 days and still can't sit down. Pelvic organ prolapse repair and a surprise hysterectomy.
Anyway, people are so kind. One of the football mum's has taken DS to his match. DD has been to a sleepover and being dropped off in a couple of hours. DM is coming over later and making us dinner. I ordered a few cheeky brambly apples so we can have crumble too.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 06/11/2022 09:55

i am now worrying about floods,
not Not worrying
bugger

that';ll teach me to ask for updates about flood warnings. ignorance is bliss

YaffleYaffle · 06/11/2022 10:01

inigomontoyahwillcox · 06/11/2022 09:18

How exciting @addler - here's hoping for a smooth and uneventful birth (well as uneventful as a birth can be!).

I'm hopefully going home to sleep in the next hour or so, been in A&E since 10.30 last night (had some odd neurological symptoms since Thursday) and haven't had a wink of sleep in these plastic chairs. Waiting for a CT scan and fingers crossed I'll then be off to my bed.

Hope you can get some rest soon and that things are ok for you.

DH’s match is off due to waterlogged pitch, so we’re having Shepherd’s Pie for lunch instead.

Breathmiller · 06/11/2022 10:04

Happy anniversary teddyted

Feel better soon notwashingup so glad you're being looked after.

doodlepoodlenoodle · 06/11/2022 10:13

Good morning everyone.

First weekend in ages I've actually been home so I'm gonna conquer the mountain of housework. It's all been maintenance the past couple of weeks and I can't actually wait to give my whole place a good deep clean.

DD is at her dads till 4 so bring it on!

DH might have to help a bit too Grin
