I have cold like symptoms with head and achiness
Should I just have gone into work anyway?

Exactly. How are we still having this conversation this far on?? Madness.

yup still blown away that people don't get this.

sanityisamyth · 02/11/2022 12:56

I have monthly tests as I'm still doing the ONS survey. I've got a few tests at home but haven't used them in months.

Lots of people I know, including ourselves test. I work for a large pharmacy and tests sell out within hours of being placed on the shelves.

Shame on those companies profiting from the fear that was instilled in others and can still be seen today. So many companies got very very rich from this, it’s scandalous, playing on people like that.

💯 agree!

I'm still blown away that people can't see the vaccines are doing literally nothing whatsoever.

RedRiverShore2 · 02/11/2022 13:00

It depends how well you feel, think what you would have done before covid, would you have felt fit enough for work

I caught covid fully vaccinated. No symptoms bar a slight fatigue. My brother, unvaccinated, was floored by it. How are you so confident they do nothing?

RaininSummer · 02/11/2022 13:03

We are expected to test and keep away from the office if positive for a few days at least.

You may have been ok without the vaccine, your brother may have been very ill if he had the vaccine, you will never know

ladygindiva · 02/11/2022 13:05

Yeah maybe. But the pendulum is undeniably swinging in favour of it being the vaccine reduced symptoms, given that's the main variable, no?

Beginning to wonder what the point of the vaccines even were. Most people I know had them all and are still testing positive. Makes you wonder doesn't it.

Makes you wonder what?

Whether all of the scientific evidence that vaccines got us out of this were wrong and you are right?

Nope, just makes me think you're a bit thick tbh

Tessasanderson · 02/11/2022 13:10

Nope. Havent tested in ages. My employer rules that if you have flu like symptoms but able to work then carry on but keep yourself apart from collegues (Easy enough where i work). If not able to work then as per last 20 years, stay off and come back when you feel well enough to work.

Zero outbreaks. Zero deaths, Zero issues. Covid dissapeared the second the government decided testing wasnt required.

Nothing except reducing deaths.

It doesn't stop you catching it. It reduces the likelihood of it killing you. I also reduces the burden on the NHS of complex care needs.

nothingmuchaboutjerry · 02/11/2022 13:13

We don't. Simply as my daughter seems to be a COVID sponge and I can spot it a mile off. We've gone all through her childhood never catching stomach bugs, but with Covid the only symptoms she has is severe vomiting. Coming back from Turkey recently she started vomiting in the tunnel on the way to the aircraft. Vomited the entire 4 hour flight, collapsed on arrival at Manchester and tested positive at the hospital. Since then, and we're only in November, she's had it twice again. I telephoned Jet2 to let them know about my poorly daughter who had been on the flight, yet due to no track and trace anymore they simply wasn't interested. So what's the point? We could all be walking around with it, spreading it on aircrafts, trains, trams etc and if the government are no longer bothered about taking preventative steps, then why should we? So I've tested my daughter out of curiosity both times she's vomited, but now we're out of tests I won't be doing it again in further instances...I'll just know it's Covid and she will isolate accordingly...because that's the right thing to do.

Is this a joke? The vaccines have reduced deaths and long term complications because they lessen the impact covid has on you.

There are lots of people still alive and healthy today who have had the vaccines as well as covid who otherwise without them would be dead.

No vaccine ever stops you getting an illness.

Strawberrysundaeonamonday · 02/11/2022 13:19

I don’t test because I don’t want to pay for them and school want the DC in school regardless now. I have learnt to live with it. I have returned to my pre-pandemic behaviour which is I don’t go out if I’m feeling too unwell and warn people beforehand that I am unwell if they want to meet up.

From my experience, friends and family have been way worse with it than prior to vaccination, plus many dreadful side effects including Myocarditis, Bells Palsy and Shingles. It's a strong no from me, but of course, each to their own and fully appreciate we are all entitled to our own views. It will always be a controversial subject.

YellowTreeHouse · 02/11/2022 13:20

@pyjamafashionista Your experience is anecdotal and therefore useless.

XAQ · 02/11/2022 13:21

We still test at work. We can't afford to even have 2 people off work ill at the same time, let alone the whole team.

blippi123 · 02/11/2022 13:21

I haven't tested since last year

I would only get SSP if I was off work which I can't afford so I would have to go in regardless

The vaccinated are the guinea pigs. There have been no long term studies, the vaccinated are the study. I fully appreciate some were happy to sign up for that. I wasn't. I'm not thick, it's a personal choice. No name calling required. Just different views.

That is actually interesting, although it is the opposite of my own ( anecdotal) experience.

You can have your own views but to try and suggest that your sample of friends and families is producing more accurate results than worldwide studies of 1000s of participants is plain stupid

You are asserting that vaccines do nothing, maybe you wouldn't look thick if you presented some evidence for this

Cherrytree77 · 02/11/2022 13:33

Yes I will test if I have symptoms. I made sure I was ordering boxes as often as i could when they were free and my work still have them to use if we feel poorly at work.

My employer thankfully is still sensible and asks you to isolate if you have symptoms and work from home/ take sick leave as appropriate.
