Do we have a clock change moan thread yet?

Sorry if we do!

Both my kids are sick, neighbours on both sides had loud house parties last night so couldn't get the kids to sleep. Dd1 then woke up at 3.00 (old time), threw up twice and then dozed/call me of and on until insisting on getting up at 5am (new time). Dd2 woke up then too, and now we are all sleep derived and watching crap on you tube. Should have been an extra hour of sleep, instead it's just an extra hour of being tired, annoyed and worried.

What time does my body think it is?

I can't for the life of me work it out.

5:30 or 7:30?!

thesunwillout · 30/10/2022 06:39

7.30 😆

Did has a normal clock in her room which I always take to my room on these twice a yr clock occasions.

Throws me completely.

I've just changed the cooker and microwave.

I hate it. Every six months it throws everyone’s body clocks and children need to adapt again. All this for a bit of light in the mornings.

gogohmm · 30/10/2022 06:43

If you live north of Manchester you wouldn't be saying this - looking forward to waking up in the light for a few more weeks

alak · 30/10/2022 06:44

I hate it too! 11mo DS up at 5am this morning 😅

Totally agree. I'm in Scotland and it makes such a difference in the morning for us.

Sicilywanderer · 30/10/2022 06:45

We are all up too well I was at 530am others slowly followed and I'm not well either so feeling you! Wish I could stay in bed all day x

alak · 30/10/2022 06:45

@gogohmm I'm in Cumbria and still hate it 😂

solania · 30/10/2022 06:45

DH is a vicar, it's All Saints Day today so major festival. DS has been up since 4.30 old time, came into bed with us at about 5.30 old time and then flooded his nappy so we’ve had to change the bed 🤦‍♀️ I didn’t get to sleep till 1am old time so we are both propping our eyelids up with matchsticks today 💤

milawops · 30/10/2022 06:46

My 5 month old woke up just after 1 and didn't go back to sleep until half 2 new time. So I saw 2am twice in one night 😫

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 30/10/2022 06:48

I love it, an extra hour of weekend, lighter mornings (for a couple of weeks) and cosy evenings.

Kocduw · 30/10/2022 06:49

My new cat didn't know the clocks had gone back. He's too young to go out on his own but has decided it's time to get up.

Mindymomo · 30/10/2022 06:49

I sympathise you don’t want another hour when DC are ill. Where we live there were fireworks last night, so dog was crazy barking most of the evening. Go to bed then foxes decide to have a fight on our front garden at around 1.30 am, again dog goes mad. Go back to sleep only for dog to wake up at his normal time of 6 am, when it’s 5 am. We told him the clocks went back, but unfortunately he’s clever but not this clever. DH got up and tried to change the cooker clock, failed. Clock in lounge needs a big battery, failed. Forgot about the other lounge clock. 30 minutes later, he brings a cup of tea and has now taken the dog out for a walk.

MintJulia · 30/10/2022 06:49

I love it. I'm enjoying a peaceful extra hour in bed, with coffee and MM.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 30/10/2022 06:49

Flowers For those of you with young children!

I’m still in bed and DS age 9 is still fast asleep. We were out late at a lantern parade. Relishing the extra peace and quiet!

devildeepbluesea · 30/10/2022 06:50

I love the lighter mornings. A few more weeks of dog walks without being assailed by bats (this has happened 3 times in the last week or so).

Thank you so much.

I couldn't get my head around it at all. Usually I'm fine but my FIL said something yesterday to make me think I was wrong about the way the changes work, the the baby woke at his usually 6:30 and I couldn't work out if it was old time 5:30 or 7:30!

I'm going to do your clock thing next year.

Haudyourwheesht · 30/10/2022 06:52

The dark mornings have been grim : I think at least partly because it's always so bloody wet. I'm looking forward to a bit of daylight on the walk to nursery.

TotteringByGenteeley · 30/10/2022 06:54

I'm very happy as the morning dog walk will be in daylight for a few weeks.

giggly · 30/10/2022 06:59

I love it as it’s light now in Scotland and yesterday at this time it was dark.
Always a bit harder with young children but on the bright side you’ll be happy with it in a few years when they happily sleep longer

Plumbear2 · 30/10/2022 07:00

I'm happy the mornings will be lighter when my teens go back to school. Teens still asleep, I will be in bed for at least another hour. It was bad when they where little but it didn't last forever. You will be happy when your secondary age kids no longer have to get buses in the dark.

Lagattolove · 30/10/2022 07:02

Love the light mornings however DDog was up at 5:45 for his morning walk. That was fun.

Simonjt · 30/10/2022 07:03

We planned well, our two were babysat last night, so we escaped one morning of their early clock change waking.
