What would your perfect day be?

DS has had a rubbish few days due to being away at a wedding and I really want him to have a lovely day tomorrow. What would a perfect day for a toddler look like I wonder? Smile

Pancakes for breakfast. Low key outing in the morning, perhaps a trip to the library rhyme time or something. Home for beans on toast for lunch and a nap (probably in pushchair with mum walking). Then trip to a mini farm for a couple of hours in the afternoon, with ducks and a playpark. Shepherds pie and strawberries for tea. Bath and bed.

I'd like a day like that. It sounds lovely.

The library might not be open tomorrow so how about feeding the ducks in the park and a go on the slide and swings?

Water.
Puddles, the beach, a bubble bath, or a trip to the swimming pool, but it would have to involve water!

JanglyBeads · 29/10/2022 21:31

Anything involving your undivided attention ?

ghostsandpumpkinsalready · 29/10/2022 21:31

A trip to soft play and playing with mummy

40andfit · 29/10/2022 21:32

Familiar enjoyable activities but not too many of then.

Bernadinetta · 29/10/2022 21:34

Swimming

Spicycurry · 29/10/2022 21:35

Would love a lot of these - he’s spent a lot of time in the car so want to minimise anything that involves a lot of driving, so unfortunately that rules out some.

He is supposed to sleep around 1230-2 but often fights it at the moment so could try for a car nap.

Loads of cardboard.

  1. Get pulled around in a box
  2. Sword fight with rolls of cardboard.
  3. Make a fort/castle/House with a big box
  4. Picnic lunch in a box
  5. Cover flood in cardboard and draw in felt tips
  6. Draw a road on the cardboard floor for cars (or forest for dinosaurs/animals)
  7. Torch & shadow puppets inside a box
  8. Paint the cardboard floor
  9. Cellotape all over the cardboard (no purpose to it but my toddler loves tape)
10. Make a robot costume

Being with my family. Lots of cuddles, going somewhere to run around and shout, probably some puddles to splash in. Then home for a nap and some playtime. Building a train track and/or duplo towers. Favourite tea, bath and my favourite story.
I think at that age they just want time and attention. And lots of patience!

Seebee · 29/10/2022 21:38

Agree with Pps, something a bit “introverted”, just involving mummy. Maybe the park. Pancakes sound lovely if he likes them. If not, whatever is his favourite everyday food, which he might have missed while travelling. Doesn’t need to be anything major — at that age, my son really liked Yeo valley honey yoghurt!

GoodnightGentleBoris · 29/10/2022 21:38

You can pull all the soft cushions off and do an at-home soft play, make a fort and have a picnic inside

Second the water play, mine absolutely loves that

Soft play, farm, anywhere to see tractors or swimming also good here!

Magn · 29/10/2022 21:38

I'd go to a farm park. Puddle suit and wellies so lots of jumping in puddles and he can feed the animals and maybe even see a tractor. Ice cream and picmic and you're done.

PritiPatelsMaker · 29/10/2022 21:40

If he's fighting his nap, will he nap in bed with you?

Spicycurry · 29/10/2022 21:40

Loves tractors. Swimming is tricky as the pool is open 12-3, which is in the middle of nap time. I might try to book tickets to the farm for the morning and then visit a playground in the afternoon. I just really want him to have a nice day where he can burn up some energy.

No, he just kicks me Smile partly joking but he will only sleep with me if unwell.

A walk to a park and the chance to stomp in puddles and then at home a Teddy Bears picnic with their cuddly toys, preferably in a den made from sheets over chairs and table etc or if you have an indoor tent or teepee.

Followed by their favourite children’s film.

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 29/10/2022 21:42

Farm and play area in the morning then home for a nap in bed watching a film with mommy. Then back out for an after dinner walk / park trip

TheGirlWhoLived · 29/10/2022 21:48

Mine is 2 in January. He likes farm parks the best, also loves lunch at costa or m and s, loves the beach if you are near, swimming is great too, he loves soft play, smoothies and toddler tunes in the car

Spicycurry · 29/10/2022 21:50

Lol at watching a film, we’re lucky to get through an episode of night garden without wandering off Smile

I definitely don’t want anything involving screens, to be honest.

A ride on a bus/train/tram would also have been quite high on the list for my two at that age. We used to ride the loop round central croydon on the team just for the sake of it, didn’t need to go anywhere on it!

Orangedaisy · 29/10/2022 21:51

*tram

MovingOnUpp · 29/10/2022 21:53

Play park or a soft play place.

bluechameleon · 29/10/2022 21:54

DS1 at this age loved going on the bus. Our town has a bus that does a circular route and you could buy a day ticket for about £4, so we used to spend a couple of hours going round. We'd get off occasionally to go to a playground or a cafe. The closest stop to our house is by the station so we'd pop in to watch some trains before going home. DS2 has always loved feeding the ducks so with him I would walk down to the canal then head to Tesco to buy a picnic to either eat in the park or on the living room floor if it was wet. Other things they would have enjoyed at that age are walks in the woods, painting, making then playing with playdough, messy play, tea parties, dressing up, baking.
