I WFH, have a sweet tooth and eat through boredom.

What nice and healthy things shall I put in my shopping basket to help me wean off all the snacky rubbish?

Also, any good ideas for breakfast please? I don’t have a great routine so tend to just graze.

thank you!

Going against the grain here - but if you really crave eg chocolate, then the best thing to do is to have some chocolate as that’s what’s going to satisfy your craving. An oatcake, dates, almonds or whatever won’t (and may well be nearly as many calories as some chocolate anyway).

I think the thing to do is snack mindfully. So for example when I wfh I know I will want to eat something sweet. So I set a time for when I will do this and make sure I only have a snack at that time. And if it’s a chocolate bar of 250 calorie level or similar that’s fine as it’s the only snack I’m having that day. I find that a lot more satisfying than having frequent snacks of food that isn’t the food I’d really like to eat, if you see what I mean!

oven roasted kale crisps - also good in the air frier. Seasoned however you like (fajita spice for me)

Eggs are really good for breakfast, high protein and good brain food.
You've had good recommendations so far, and I'd also add humus with carrot sticks, peppers and celery. The crunch is really satisfying and stress releving while we work which is why we crave things like crisps while focusing.

Train yourself not to snack. Don't buy the stuff then you can't eat it.

Make sure your eating is at meals.

Why are you bored?

Rice cakes with mashed avocado, lemon juice and black pepper, cucumber on top.
Olives and tomatoes with Ryvita and peanut butter.

I chop up a fresh pineapple and keep it in the fridge. Sweet and juicy!

Many people seem to find porridge fills them up, for me, although I love it, an hour after eating it I'm absolutely starving! I have eggs for breakfast, instead 😂

I snack on nuts, and the occasional chocolate rice cake.

Sugar snap peas.
Cherry tomatoes

My coffee and sweeteners are what keep my sweet tooth at bay.

formulatingAresponse · 29/10/2022 08:32

and bananas

Ok, so here's the deal (as an example)

I had lunch at half one. Delicious and tasty - bistro salad, extra beetroot, goats cheese, roast chicken, croutons. Oh and half a naan bread left over from last night. Followed by a banana and two satsumas. Yum.

I am, now, absolutely starving.

This is the point at which I could ravage a bar of chocolate, some biscuits, cookies, a Magnum, whatever!
