Black ‘spots’ on labia minora

GreenSpace00 · 23/10/2022 20:19

A few days ago I noticed one black 'mole' on my labia minora (I wiped and it felt more raised which caused me to investigate further). I pinched it and blood came out so I thought it was some kind of friction blood blister?. I've looked again today and the black spot is still there and there are a few other smaller patches near it.

I'm worrying that there is more to it than just a mole. Has anyone had a similar experience or can offer reassurance?

Yep. I get them regularly

Bridezilla · 23/10/2022 20:40

I guess the tissue is very sensitive so if your underwear is rubbing or any friction from say a bike seat or tight jeans or sex could make that happen. It sort of looks like bruising.

LargeglassofRosePlease · 23/10/2022 20:41

I get these too.

I went to the doctors about this, I can’t remember what they are called but they are completely harmless.

Mumzy9311 · 07/10/2023 20:50

Hi I'm very worried my vagina has been itchy alot over the months and open sores have come I guessed due to itching it the sores don't ever seem to patch up... also I've been back and forth to drs sex clinic for tests etc they keep testing me for thrush or sti etc.. but today Investigated my labia and seen x2 dark maybe brown or black dots I think under the skin.. I've cried my eyes out I've googled it and it tells me the worst cancer.. I'm worried sick I keep putting creams on for underneath but itch never goes fully.. but seen this dots I'm worried incase the worst..

I get them regularly and have done for years. They seem to be harmless.

Tip: don't pick/lance it, thinking if you release the blood it will disappear. The bastards bleed big time - or my one did anyway. I just ignore them now.

NancyDrawed · 07/10/2023 20:59

Mumzy itchiness, especially at night, and broken skin can be signs of Lichen Sclerosus - an autoimmune condition. The skin becomes very delicate and very white in colour. It can be managed with topical steroids.

Possibly worth discussing with your GP?

Mumzy9311 · 07/10/2023 21:08

Hey thanks for replying they arnt on the skin I don't think there under and flat not even raised.. never noticed them ever only now I'm really worried sick.. I'm going to call my gp again Monday.. I literally went the hospital sex clinic around 4 days ago.. she done an internal check but she never mention this unless she never seen them I'm not sure.. and I've only just noticed now.. unless she seen them but thought they are nothing and never told me I don't know.. x

Iamplastic · 07/10/2023 21:30

I have these. They tend to come up when I have an infection somewhere else.

Mumzy9311 · 07/10/2023 21:43

Hey thanks for your reply sorry I don't understand.. are they like almost black under skin flat round things sorry for detail I just worried sick I'm a single mum to a 2 year old her dad abused me so I need to stick around for my daughter I worry if it's cancer I won't be here for her 😢

Iamplastic · 07/10/2023 21:48

They look exactly like your picture. They come and go. I've had them for years. Try not to worry to much. The Dr will look at them and be able to tell you what they are.

Mumzy9311 · 07/10/2023 22:07

Ok thanks sorry I'm new to this site also. I looked online and it says cancer it makes me worry I suffer with anxiety really bad anyway but ive been torn all night in crying because I need to be here for my by daughter. But also because other symptoms like open sore very itchy black spots under skin just makes me think this is more bad as 3 symptoms straight away.. awful to go through this 😢 xx

Iloveanicegarden · 07/10/2023 22:15

@Mumzy9311 Get checked out for Lichen Sclerosis for the never ending itch.

AmyFl · 07/10/2023 22:25

Looks like angiokeratoma which is benign.

DaisyDreaming · 07/10/2023 23:04

There’s lichen planus too, LS is more common as LP often affects the mouth and can affect the skin but it’s possible to just get it on the vulva. I often see LS mentioned but not LP. Saying that I only ever see these things mentioned on here and never anywhere else, I wish they were spoken about and awareness of them. How many women spend a fortune on thrush creams when they have a condition like LS/LP!

Mumzy9311 · 08/10/2023 08:51

Thanks its playing on my mind alot and it will do until I get an appointment to get it checked.. massive worry. The spots don't itch they are flat under the skin I think as I can't feel them on the skin, the vagina is itchy I've been putting canisten internal cream on to keep the itch at bay, and I have 2 open sores that look like flesh skin.. I don't know how to close the open wounds up.. tbh 😔

DaisyDreaming · 08/10/2023 14:43

I had that, for me a steroid cream was needed. Try not to panic. It’s horrid and I hope you can be seen soon and it goes away quickly with the right treatment.

Mumzy9311 · 08/10/2023 18:05

@DaisyDreaming thanks I hope It's nothing iknow you can get freckles down there but I'm sure I've never seen them before I would of known about them.. strange.. ahh ohhh was the cream for the sores for you? Xx

DaisyDreaming · 08/10/2023 18:10

The steroid cream cleaned up the sores, they were so painful and I had itching too but it was the sores which were the worst. When they got to their worst point they turned into ulcers and caused a couple of adhesions but most of the time they were just flesh coloured sores. I haven’t had one for ages now but if they start to come back I just use a small amount of steroid cream on them and they go away. My immune system just attacks that area and my mouth every once in a while.

Fluffyrug191 · 08/10/2023 18:11

Tricky to see from your picture but they look like type of vulval varicosity to me called angiokeratoma. Tiny varicose veins in the capillaries of vulva and vagina, quite common after pregnancy and can bleed like mad if you catch them. Definitely worth a GP looking at them but I wouldn't be panicking

Mumzy9311 · 08/10/2023 19:28

@DaisyDreaming ahh i see I'm glad yours cleared up and you know what to do if it comes back.. yes it's just annoying and not nice 😒 ima call the Dr tomorow and see what she says if I can get an appointment. X

Mumzy9311 · 08/10/2023 19:32

@Fluffyrug191 thanks for your reply, yes the picture isn't great hard trying to take it as it's right under but oh right I've never heard of that before hmm possibly how can I catch them if it's under the skin? I try not to worry but I'm such a worrier 😢 thanks xx

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 08/10/2023 19:56

I had these and only noticed when I got thrush and asked DH to look to see if I had white discharge and he said you have these weird black spots. I freaked out for a bit then got distracted by the thrush 😆

BrandNewBicep · 08/10/2023 20:10

When I went to my GP about these, she said they were nothing to worry about and were just a sign of 'an aging vagina/labia'. Great.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 08/10/2023 20:13

How old are you? I've started getting them and read they are common around menopause.
