Help! Expensive boots rubbing heels raw

Axlcat · 20/10/2022 19:59

I bought some boots last year and I’ve worn them all last season but they are still rubbing my heels raw! The only way I can wear them is with blister plasters.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do that’s more permanent to solve the issue? Insoles? Heel shields of some sort? I’m flat footed if that makes any difference (I seem to get this a lot with shoes!)

I wish I hadn’t persevered with them but too late now and want to wear them!

I use vasaline on shoes that rub. A thin layer on the offending area, needs re applying after a few wears. Or anti blister stick made a company who name I’ve just forgotten 🤦‍♀️ I’ll look it up.

The brand is Compeed.

Moleskin plasters - not quite blister plasters but they definitely work. Available from Amazon.

Let the blisters heel and then you will have no trouble with new boots.

Monica??

Axlcat · 20/10/2022 20:06

@AdoraBell vaseline on the shoes? Or the heels? I’ve seen the sticks - do they actually work? I get blisters after only a short time if wearing them. So bloody annoying - I thought they just needed breaking in but I’ve worn them lots and the issue still persists!

Get them stretched at a cobbler

Unfortunately not always. I have boots that give me blisters every time

Axlcat · 20/10/2022 20:07

@margotsdevil i do! And they rip my heels up again!

Get them to a cobbler. There is a lot a decently cobbler can do. There was one down the road from us years ago. Worked miracles

Axlcat · 20/10/2022 20:08

@pigcon1 that’s a good idea - there’s a good one near me so will see if there is anything they can do

I bought some little padded shell shaped sticky things off Amazon to go into the heel of new dr martens. Worked a treat.

Blanketpolicy · 20/10/2022 20:09

Whenever I get blisters it is usually because the boot/shoe is too big around the heel.

Insoles or 1/2 Insoles might help reposition your foot. Or try a cushioned heel guard.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 20/10/2022 20:09

Any new boots or shoes I buy I put a sanitary towel around the inside from the centre outwards. Sounds bizarre but that's how's I broke in two pairs of de martens

CiderJolly · 20/10/2022 20:10

£3.99

Nottodaty · 20/10/2022 20:10

I seem to have weak skin on the back of my feet and my comfy trainers and walking shoes if I forget to put a plaster on will blister regardless:(

No idea why - even my faithful Toms can be fine then suddenly if I’ve walked more than usual = blister :(

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 20/10/2022 20:10

You can get little silicon heel socks on Amazon to prevent boots rubbing heels. I haven't used them personally but have seen them recommended.

hedwigismyowl · 20/10/2022 20:10

Chiropody felt- padding that you can stick in the boot, works a treat

Cattytabby · 20/10/2022 20:11

If its because the leather is stiff, you can soften it up with heat from a hairdryer.

Axlcat · 20/10/2022 20:12

@CiderJolly thanks have ordered!
@Blanketpolicy i wonder if that’s what the issue is - I’ll give that a try

Fill with damp newspaper!

AnnaMagnani · 20/10/2022 20:12

Chiropody felt in the shoes might help.

But I blister v easily and just put plasters in the places I know are needed for each shoe whenever I wear them.

Newusernameaug · 20/10/2022 20:12

Before spending serious cash, I’d try the foam shoe soles they sell in Poundland, B&M etc for £1 or close enough.
it especially works if the shoes are slightly too big. If it’s a squeeze I wear those tights socks instead of normal socks.

I have super soft feet that blister really easily and these have been transforming for me!

LittleMrsPerfect · 20/10/2022 20:12

@Hoppinggreen
oh really. This happened after 1 day walking to work in my new docs. Luckily it was summer so I wore flip flops for a month while the massive blisters heeled and once they had my docs were perfect!!
