Tom Hanks.

Tony Hart was lovely, exactly like you’d imagine. I met him when I was a teenager as my dad worked with him for years on VisionOn and Take Hart.

Phew!

Some of these I've read unedifying accounts of (on here and elsewhere).
Mine is a posthumous one: if Tony Hart ever gets Yewtreed I'll be devastated.

There’s no way anyway working at the BBC then hadn’t been thoroughly looked at. If TH was a bad guy I think we’d know. At least I hope so.

Sue Perkins
Julie Walters
Monica Dolan
Keeley Hawes
Tom Hanks
The Mighty and Fearless JK Rowling
Emily Maitlis

Have also met Sue Perkins, she was great. Warm and funny, hugely likeable.

Robert Carlyle

Stanley Tucci
Ainsley Harriet
Dawn French
Ben Shepherd
Warwick Davis

I know a couple of people who've spoken to Warwick Davies and both said he was very rude and nasty to them🤭 most people say he's lovely so this always surprises people. The 2 people were both serving him (one in a shop, one dealing with his dilemma over the phone - neither of these people know each other) - maybe he's nicer when he's meeting fans and they both caught him on bad days😦

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/10/2022 15:02

I was sad to discover that Stanley Tucci was a PITA on his food show.

Not at all vile, just a wazzock when he took over directing the end of it.

@Littledidsheknow

but what about Morph, eh???🤨

waterlego · 20/10/2022 15:04

Jarvis Cocker. Though everyone I know who's met him say he was very nice

Also Shaun Ryder and Bez. Very likeable

I am a huge Jarvis fan and got to meet him in about 1999. I approached him in a pub while he was surrounded by a big group of very cool and quirky London media types. He came away from the group to talk to me, sign my CD cover and have a photo taken. He was every bit as lovely as I’d hoped.

In 2018 ds2 and his choir were performing at a WW1 remembrance concert... He is profoundly deaf and autistic... After the concert he messaged me to say he was with a famous actor... I had just taken my head out of the oven with dinner and resembled a house brick.... I asked him who it was and he said Samuel West... I replied that I had seen him in the West End on stage a few years ago... The next thing I knew I was chatting with Samuel via video call... He was absolutely charming and very interested that ds2 was named after a WW1 poet... We chatted a bit more later that evening on Twitter. A proper gentleman...

I knew it - I knew it. The man is beautiful inside and out Smile

ChocFrog · 20/10/2022 15:05

Chris Hemsworth 👀

Thismonkeysgonetodevon · 20/10/2022 15:05

Lovely to see the nice stories about David Attenborough and Michael Palin, both of whom have been on my dinner party list since forever! I would also add:

Damien Lewis
Dolly Parton
Jane Goodall
Ricky Gervais
J K Rowling
Paul Rudd
Jason Bateman
Keanu Reeves
Martin Lewis
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds - they both came across as genuinely decent people in “Welcome to Wrexham”.

waterlego · 20/10/2022 15:06

So happy to hear Richard E Grant has impressed people who’ve met him, I’m a big fan.

Morph was a PITA, but won't blame TH for that, and I doubt he had any skeletons in his cupboard.
Remember Morph also had a 'friend' in different coloured clay, who was even more annoying? Think he was called Chas!

I would be sad if Gromit turned out to be snappy and pissed everywhere.

Leopardprintisaneutral · 20/10/2022 15:13

It's worth bearing in mind that celebs have off days like the rest of us, however when there are multiple anecdotes about the same people being awful, there might be something in it.
My friend and I have hugely differing stories about meeting Marti Pellow (several years apart in different countries). She found him an arrogant arse, while he couldn't have been nicer for the few weeks he was a customer at my old job. I will never be convinced that he is anything other than an absolute sweetheart.

Wallace is sadly selfish and a bit of a user.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 20/10/2022 15:15

The few I like - Rick Edwards, Tamsin Greig, Monty Don, Greg Davies, Ken Bruce, Stephen Mangan and Joel Dommet.

Hbh17 · 20/10/2022 15:16

Roger Federer
Richard E Grant
Stanley Tucci
David Tennant
Dame Judi Dench
Victoria Coren Mitchell

allfurcoatnoknickers · 20/10/2022 15:17

@ChocFrog One of my friends was a jobbing actor at the same time as Chris Hemsworth - they used to go to a lot of the same auditions. Obviously this was pre-fame, but he said he was a really nice guy - very friendly.

I'd be upset if Cillian Murphy was vile in real life. I never, ever hear anything bad about him though.

Also Pedro Pascal and Mark Ruffalo. My three main crushes!

Amar8989 · 20/10/2022 15:20

Tom and Giovanna Fletcher

crazeecatladee · 20/10/2022 15:20

Re all creatures...old series or new one. One of the previous series actors trying to claw his way up a hospital queue saying...'do you know who I am?' Yes, you're a prick who is going to have to wait with everyone else

FartSock5000 · 20/10/2022 15:22

Jason Momoa.

He's like a big, messy sex puppy who seems so nice and everyone has only good things to say about.

Recently found out he'd had botched botox in his forehead and was surprised.

Would still have a bath with him though...😏

I've heard before that MM is poisonous - no real-life "Beattie Bellman" - and MM is psycho (though she did speak for the country with her comment about Hunt).

Sorry - ML is reputedly poisonous, not MM

Apologies
