Shauna2866 · 17/10/2022 10:24

Hi I’m asking for a friend she called pip up in suavest and requested a form to be sent out but she said she was on the phone for around 15 minutes explaining what’s wrong with her and giving bank details she then received the forms she was currently waiting to be seen by a psychiatrist but the waiting list is so long to be seen so she said she would get seen first and some help and then fill it in with there input she does have 14 years off history being on anti depressents beta blockers
and so much more but pip have said they are calling her next week for a assessment and she said why would they do that when I haven’t filled my forms in 🤷🏻‍♀️ Now she’s worried incase she doesn’t get it without her filling in the forms has this happened to anyone else ?? Just find it weird apparently sometimes they can just go off the phone call but really can’t see that
thank you x

Has she been able to refer herself for taking therapy. Also ask the doctor to do a letter setting out the reason for referral. The CAN website is v helpful.

Shauna2866 · 17/10/2022 12:58

@rose69 yeah she has referred herself for therapy but she missed the phone call of them at 8am and they have dish charged her so she now has to make a new referral so if she asks the GP to write down she has been referred to a psychiatrist would that help ?

I put in a claim in August. I completed forms and sent back. I had a MRI showing arthritis damage to my spine 3 years ago. I am waiting for a more up to date scan but in meanwhile have a face to face meeting on Friday. I have to get there for 8am. It is as bout 1 hour 20 mins away. DH will have to come with me to park car and push me in wheelchair to assessment as much too far for me to walk. I was hoping I would have MRI and see consultant before assessment but I have been told if I don't go my claim will be ceased.

Shauna2866 · 25/10/2022 13:14

Hi she had her telephone assessment yesterday I sat with her I did say if she needed me to help her I would but she managed alone it was on speaker so I could hear what the lady was saying it lasted 1 hour 20 mins 🥱
the lady did seem really nice but again I’ve read about them being nice and friendly and then them saying the complete opposite to what you have said to them so I did say don’t think cos she was nice that you will get a good out come
because she never filled a form in she was just asking all the questions on the form and my fiends answered as good as she could off done can she request a copy of the report ??
if so I’ll tell her to do that too
the lady wants finished said she will send the report of to DWP and hopefully she won’t have to get back in contact again sometimes she said DWP ask them to ring back up to ask more questions but she said more than lightly won’t as she feels like she has done her job properly so suppose it’s jus a waiting game she said DWP have told her to tell people it can take up 2 3 weeks to hear back

It's more likely to be 12 weeks, not 2. Sorry to put a downer I. Things but the wait times are horrendous just now and a fast turnaround is unlikely. She can call them and ask for a copy of the report, I would wait a day or 2 before doing this. The report will show what the assessor advises but the decision maker can change things so don't bank on getting the points indicated on the form. It's a long hard wait but fingers crossed

kitcat15 · 25/10/2022 18:08

My son waited 10 weeks for a decision …..in fact the back pay was deposited in his account before he got the actual letter …so we knew then he had been sucessful

Shauna2866 · 26/10/2022 10:18

Hi yeah I did say it will probs be lot longer than that to her she has called to see if she can have a report of the assessment and they’ve said they still haven’t received the report back yet is this normal I thought they would send it it straight over the lady told my friend she was going to send it straight to them x

OP posts:
Asher33 · 26/10/2022 10:22

It can take a few days for the report to be typed and sent to the DWP. I got a text when the DWP received it

Shauna2866 · 26/10/2022 10:33

@Asher33 oh that’s good I’ll let her know she jus got told it should get to them Tuesday morning

Strangerthings4NW · 26/10/2022 11:21

I had the same thing, although I did fill in the form. I applied in June, had the assessment call in the first week of October and then I’ve received a txt to say it will be decided upon within the next 8 weeks.

as @Pawport has said, I was asked to retrieve something while on the phone. My mobility is an issue so undid feel as though it was something that was done to catch me out.

I called my GP and reception refused to give me any supporting information to send along with the form as apparently they have to do it anyway so won’t do it twice?!

I hope your friend gets her decision soon.

caringcarer · 26/10/2022 11:25

In the end I got a phone call evening before I was supposed to have my face to face saying I was booked in for 8 but centre only opened at 9. I was told I could choose a phone assessment or have another date in 3 weeks for face to face. I chose telephone assessment. A bit annoyed as DH had booked day off work to take me and too late for him to cancel day off. I asked for call to be recorded. I will be asking for a copy of the report. I was told 10-12 weeks before decision made.

Shauna2866 · 27/10/2022 12:25

My friend has just called DWP they still haven’t received her report back so DWP give her the number to contact the people who done her assessment they have said it needs to be checked before being sent over to DWP and they can’t give no time scale on this when they will send it has anyone had this happen before ?

OP posts:
madnesss · 27/10/2022 12:32

It sounds like it has been pulled for audit which means it will take slightly longer to reach the DWP but I wouldn't be worried about it. This is the start of a very long wait for a decision.

Shauna2866 · 27/10/2022 13:14

@madnesss what does that mean sorry just confused as everyone seems to have there’s sent over within 24/48 hours after assessment what’s audit is that to make the persons who done the assessment has done everything correctly x

OP posts:
madnesss · 27/10/2022 13:27

It's completely random and it isn't your friend who is being audited it is the assessor who spoke to her. It's nothing to worry about at all, just unfortunate it is holding things up slightly but in the end it's likely to make a few days difference to a decision that can take weeks of not months.

Shauna2866 · 27/10/2022 14:12

@madnesss okay thanks I’ll let her know cos she said she was worried incase she’s done something
thank you

Still awaiting my report I have now requested. My son had his DLA claim move to PIP as he turned 16. Just heard yesterday he has been awarded highest rate for care and highest rate for mobility. He did not have an assessment. I did sent in lots of evidence to support what I said in form though. Has anyone else had this with no assessment just straight to decision?

Shauna2866 · 27/10/2022 17:22

My friend said she never had time to even send in any evidence so I doubt she will get it anyway tbh as I’ve heard you need evidence but then I have also heard people also getting th knocked back with evidence 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
caringcarer · 01/11/2022 20:11

I rang and asked for copy of assessors report. I am hugely relieved to see she recommended 12 points for mobility. She recommended 9 points for care. I thought I might get 12 points for care. Also reassessment after 18 months in case care needs deteriorate further. Disappointed I won't be able to get Notability car even though 12 points because of only 18 months duration.

madnesss · 01/11/2022 20:14

You only need 12 months on your award to order a car.

Have you had your award letter yet? The decision maker doesn't always go with the assessor so the points could change:

Shauna2866 · 05/11/2022 19:48

Just quick update my fiend has received her report from the assessment she had and the report is good says exactly what my friend said and she has ticked the boxes where she thinks she should be awarded with pip so she scored 14 on the daily living and 10 on the disability part
now it’s obviously up too the DM to make make the final say
thanks for the help x

OP posts:
madnesss · 05/11/2022 19:58

That would give her enhanced daily living and standard mobility if the decision maker agrees, even if DM deducts a couple of points on either side it will still be an award. That's amazing.

Shauna2866 · 06/11/2022 05:45

@madnesss yeah I have heard it rare for them to go against what the assessor has put forward to them
can they deduct point and add points if they like ??
she will just have to wait and see what happens in the next 12 weeks maybe she just a nice assessor as I have heard some can be bad which she was aware before taking the call

OP posts:
Shauna2866 · 10/11/2022 16:26

Hi my friend has just been awarded pip so only took 2 weeks from having the assessment to being awarded

she didn’t have any evidence either just what she said on her assessment she was worried with how many stories you hear about people not being accepted due to the assessors lying but I think not a lot of people who have good outcomes don’t post cos they have nothing to say about it

so just thought I’d let people know if anyone comes across this thread

thanks for the help x

I'm having trouble believing she got awarded PIP without any evidence and within 2 weeks if I'm completely honest. Even under special rules where the claim is fast tracked she would need medical evidence. The waiting time for PIP applications is way beyond the lead times they give and current claimants are having their awards extended by 12 months rather then reviewed because the workload and backlog is so huge.
