Reiki - anyone tried it?

Just wondered your thoughts if you had

My friend recently started a course learning how to do it, I was willing to be her volunteer until she stated she had to practice on plants for six months before moving onto living things, it really put me off.

I imagine it is absolute bollocks but I personally experience quite intense ASMR so I do believe that some people would have a natural physical tingling response to the movements. Nothing to do with healing or energy but probably would be super relaxing.

I had my attunement (sp?) and found it very uncomfortable. All the time I felt like a gun metal coloured bar was covering my body and I felt something being pulled out from my throat through the back of my neck. By the 4th and last laying off of hands the gun metal bar vanished and the pain/feeling of something being pulled out of my neck and throat had diminished. The gun metal bar felt like the old ready brek orange outline all over my body. Very weird.

I can do reiki to others but don’t.

Since my attunement I have paid for one session but found it very uncomfortable. When other practitioners (e.g. a reflexologist or masseuse) have attempted to use reiki on my aches and pains, I have always had to ask them to stop as I hate the feeling.

I cannot explain it, but the sensations my body has experienced are awful.

For those who don’t believe in it, that’s fine, for those who get relief from it, that’s also fine. For me, I can’t stand reiki and no I don’t have an explanation for how it works.

Sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience during attunement. It sounds like you went through a crisis and progressed massively though. Have you tried some gentle self Reiki?

Just another thought, did your teacher ask for feedback or follow-up afterwards?
