I just have it on toast for breakfast with a sprinkle of sea salt flakes and a grind of pepper on top, or on a jacket potato.

FrankTheThunderbird · 14/10/2022 10:02

Get a spoon. Eat from the tub.

elephantoverthehill · 14/10/2022 10:05

Put it the food processor with smoked mackerel and make pate.

I love it on bread with butter. With tomato, salt and pepper. One of my favourite breakfasts.

MintyGreenDreams · 14/10/2022 10:10

Throw it in the bin

ZeroFuchsGiven · 14/10/2022 10:12

I dont think Ive ever had cottage cheese and I absolutely love cheese just dont like the look of it. Following to see what it can actually be used for and I might give it a go Grin

Can anyone explain what it tastes like? Is it stong/mild. whats the nearest cheese you would describe it like?

Whataretheodds · 14/10/2022 10:13

I'd eat it straight from the tub, or on a heavy seeded bread/toast, with a bit of berry jam.

NoSquirrels · 14/10/2022 10:13

Bin.

CoolAngelica · 14/10/2022 10:13

CoolAngelica · 14/10/2022 10:13

It's very mild but can have a tang to it. I'd say the nearest would be mozzarella in flavour? Cottage cheese is just smooth lumps of the curds and sometimes you can get more whey in the pot after it's been opened for a day or so, which I tend to drain off. It's a clear slightly yellow liquid. You can get small pots to try so maybe get one of those and don't try the diet ones.

Depends. Is it Longley Farm full fat? If yes eat out of tub or on toast. If it’s anything else, bin

I was just about to type this!

Longley farms full fat is lush, eat it by itself or on crackers. Everything else is ok but thinner, lumpier and tangier, I have that on jacket potatoes.

There are recipes for pancakes that you could try.

Mischance · 14/10/2022 16:26

Bin it - it's like cold sick! Yuk!

megletthesecond · 14/10/2022 16:29

Scoop it out on chocolate digestive biscuits and eat.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 14/10/2022 16:29

I found a tub of Longley Farm cottage cheese in Iceland the other day and bought it because I'd heard rapturous things about it. Prepared to put my feelings of cottage cheese ick aside to give it a fair go.

Eselch · 14/10/2022 16:30

Another vote for bin!

It seems like cottage cheese is the marmite of the cheese world, you either love it or hate it 😂

RaininSummer · 14/10/2022 16:32

Yep bin it. Disgusting stuff and I love all other forms of cheese.

Gonksmum · 14/10/2022 16:33

I don't like cottage cheese as a rule but have it on top of a pasta bake, drizzled with olive oil and black pepper. Last 10 minutes of the baking time I sprinkle over grated parmesan.

SuperCamp · 14/10/2022 16:36

I love Langley Farm full fat.
Cheap supermarket and low fat versions are horrid.

I just eat it with salad and bread or good cheese biscuits for lunch. Maybe in baked potato. It’s good with strong leaves like watercress. I wouldn’t bother with a ‘recipe’.

Absolutely agree. That is the only one I like and I love it. I've never had another That tastes any where near as good. Lush on a jacket potato with loads of butter and salt.

Bimblepops · 14/10/2022 16:39

I’d suggest popping it into the food waste and buying some real cheese

greenhousegal · 14/10/2022 16:42

There are far too many NICE cheeses, so no need to eat these awful lumps of curd instead.

I had a tub once. Only once..... and I mixed it with ricotta to make white sauce for lasagne. Was ok, did the job.
