Throw it in the bin

This or look up a muffin recipie that uses it

Sandysandwich · 14/10/2022 18:41

Funnel it into balloons and throw them at any enemies you might have

IntentionalError · 14/10/2022 18:42

I like it in sandwiches with brown bread, sliced cucumber, salt & pepper.

Longley farm is the best I sometimes just eat it on its own with a bit of sweet chili sauce and peppers in the jar

Preeeettyprettygood · 14/10/2022 18:56

It HAS to be Longley Farm, all others are rank.

My little go to is to just have the cottage cheese in a bowl with cut chunks of cucumber and black pepper. Always comforts me

gratefulmamatobe · 14/10/2022 18:57

I like to mix in a scoop of vanilla protein powder and then top with berries and nuts x

SallyWD · 14/10/2022 18:57

I used to go to a jacket potato place that did potatoes with cottage cheese, cheddar and sweetcorn. It was really nice!

Greengr · 14/10/2022 19:00

Agree Longley Farm is the only nice cottage cheese. Everything else is a bit slippery and tasteless. But it's not really comparable to actual cheese. If you're hoping for it to taste like cheese, you'll be disappointed. I have it occassionally but I like to mix marmite in it and have it in a jacket potato, in a sandwich or with pretzels.

Today

Honeydew or Gala melon, cut in half shortways, scoop out the seeds, spoon in the cottage cheese and sprinkle soft light brown sugar (needs to be fine) or drizzle with maple syrup and add a small pinch of paprika.

Do not shake the sugar on, just gently rub a few granules between your thumb and finger. The sugar or maple syrup is to give it a flavour not sweetness - hence more is less.

Christmas Day

You can make a jus to drizzle with Chardonnay on Christmas Day morn. The ABC Club will deride it (ignoramuses) but one of the best kept secrets with wine is the right Chardonnay is perfect with melon and proteins, especially turkey. Do the above as a starter on Christmas Day and swap the paprika for cinnamon and two or three vanilla seeds.

Snack on cream crackers.

catsonahottinroof · 14/10/2022 20:04

Longley Farm full fat is the only acceptable cottage cheese (preferably with pineapple), others are far too watery and bland. The only way I eat it is on a jacket potato, but it still needs quite a lot of butter and grated cheddar for texture and flavour, so not really healthy at all.

Cottage cheese? I served it up to my then boyfriend 40 years ago.
He still mentions it when he wants to be unkind.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/10/2022 20:10

Eat it with smoked salmon - lots of black pepper on the cottage cheese, lemon juice and dill on the salmon.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/10/2022 20:10

And mini capers - I forgot them.

Montague22 · 14/10/2022 20:12

Eat it straight out the tub. Only the Longley Farm one though.

PeloFondo · 14/10/2022 20:15

I like it on corn thins with sweet chilli sauce or everything bagel seasoning

Florin · 14/10/2022 20:15

On a baked potato with good salt and pepper it is amazing, my 10 year old also goes bonkers for it.
I also love mixing it up with plenty of salt and pepper, chilli flakes, fennels seeds and some other spices and eat it with celery sticks. Always eaten while our dog has some also spread on a licky mat he loves it too!

Depends. Is it Longley Farm full fat? If yes eat out of tub or on toast. If it’s anything else, bin

Correct

Dont bother buying cottage cheese unless its full fat (5%) or so, anything else has a horrible bitter sour flavour.

Years ago, supermarkets had a choice, now their own brand cottage cheese is nearly ALL low or free of fat.

Longley Farm is like eating a tub of cream. Gorgeous

I like it on hot buttered toast. Liberal with the butter.

Make a cheesecake
For a 225g tub, make a shortbread base in a quiche tin, mix thé cheese with a couple of egg yolks, a 250ml carton of whipping cream, a little sugar. Whisk the whites and fold in. Add a little vanilla. Bake in oven about gas 3 or 4.
Cover the top with fruit and Quick jel if it still exists.
