As a few people said earlier they love a food thread I thought I'd ask as I'm procrastinating from the washing up... what's everyone's tea tonight? Or even for this week. What sort of things are we cooking / making/ warming up 😂

To start off Monday I did a hotpot. Last night toad in the hole and tonight kids had carbonara whisky I had chicken and salad wraps.

So it's over to you... MN what's for tea?

We had homemade doner kebabs with shredded lettuce, red cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber and peppers. With peri salted skin-on fries. One of the few meals the whole family will eat without grumbling!

I don't like kebabs myself but the sides sound yummy

Hope you enjoyed the fair

Made a lovely warming chicken curry in the slow cooker while I was WFH today. We used this recipe: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooker-chicken-curry

we had this with a choice of naan, rice and poppadoms

Going to give this one a go! I love using my slow cooker!

Salmon, boiled potatoes and broccoli bit boring but good.

Sounds lovely!

Veggie frittata as I'm not eating much today. Served with salad and homemade chips for the rest of the family who are eating normally

I've never eaten let alone made a frittata, not 100% sure I even know what it is, but sounds interesting. May have to look it up 😂

The classic Mac’n’Cheese. It’s a crowd pleaser. With bacon.
I had a cheese and pickle sandwich and caramel nibbles for pudding.

illiterato · 12/10/2022 21:25

Um, Golden Arches. It's on the road between school and rugby practice and time is massively tight so on Wednesdays we do the drive in - cheeseburger for me and cheeseburger and fries for the kids.

What's your recipe if you don't mind me asking. I love Mac and cheese but can never make is as good as I have out.

Keema pilau (beef mince rice) with homemade chutney mixed with yoghurt..was really greedy tonight and had two plates. Stuffed now lay in bed wondering why I needed 2 plates

Maxifly · 12/10/2022 22:24

Spanish dish, huevos rancheros. Onion, garlic, red peppers, chorizo, tomatoes, smoky paprika cooked till thick then eggs nestled on top, lid on for a couple of minutes, served with good bread/baguette. Very tasty and easy.

ThatshallotBaby · 13/10/2022 06:27

@forevercooking
Of course!
I fry 6 bacon rashers in a fairly generous amount of sunflower oil. Cheese sauce again generous. Thick roux, lots of cheese, nutmeg and a teaspoon of English mustard, sprinkle of salt.
Chop up bacon, and scrap all bits and fat onto the macaroni, add cheese sauce, bake for 30 mins or so.
I also whisk the cheese sauce as I think that makes it creamier.
Bon Appetit Smile

Michael Portillo and a packet of wine gums.

Maybe a McDonald's on the way home.

You ate Michael Portillo? With or without the lurid suit?

Oh the suit comprised a Ribera jacket and mustard trews!
