Clean up your dog sh*t

Anybody who has a dog and doesn’t pick up their poo is a complete and utter moron. Shame on you!

If you don’t have a poo bag then don’t go out with your dog unless you have something to scoop it up with, a carrier bag, a tissue, hell anything!

I can’t believe how much sh*t I’ve seen lately all over the pavements just laying there ripe and ready for some poor sod to walk right into. It’s just not on.

Clean your mess people!

Umm, maybe as long as you have good eyesight. A friend of mine was very shaken after an aggressive man yelled at her to 'Fucking pick that up' when all her dog had done was sit arthritically at the kerb to cross the road. He was insistent that she should go back across and scoop up the imaginary poo.

I got yelled at and told to pick my dog's shit up, when she had only peed.
Also had someone get very aggressive at me about a dog turd she had found that my dog had not done. I picked it up anyway... it was stone cold and trodden in.

If I miss a poo because I am not looking, or I failed to find one amongst leaves (common this time of year), then there is no need for someone to get up in my face, shouting and swearing. No need for it at all.

Anyway, no one is going to disagree with you OP. I see a lot on the streets where I live. The dog would be a on a lead, so the owner would full well know they are shitting. During lockdown was the worst, as people would avoiding picking stuff up "because of Covid".

I love this one - if I could put it up at strategic places in my road, I would. I pick up after my dogs - it's not hard!

I always always clean up after mine.

But it does bother me that there’s now millions or billions of dog shits wrapped in plastic stuffed in every bit of landfill of the UK. Most people don’t use biodegradable bags and that’s an awful lot of plastic when you think about it!

On the small heath where I walk our dog it’s really bad at the moment , I think a lot of it is down to people who walk their dogs after dark so they think nobody can see them not picking up .

I think about that too. Something that is perfectly biodegradable that is stuck in a little plastic bag prison.

Tanfastic · 11/10/2022 17:46

It's everywhere. I think the worst offenders I see are those who have their dogs off lead as they can't possibly see if they've shit as they are so far away. Other than that the ones that walk their dogs in the dark thinking nobody will see them.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 11/10/2022 18:03

Worst offenders are dog owners who take their dogs out just for the amount of time it takes them to leave a pile of excrement and then turn round and go back home.

If dogs can be trained to sit, they can be trained to poop - make sure it's on your own property.

Of course those owners should be picking the poo up, but not everyone has a garden.

Gertrudetheadelie · 11/10/2022 18:10

This drives me potty too. The school walk is a perilous poo-avoidance dance, which is no fun for anyone. Just because it isn't in the centre of the path doesn't mean it doesn't need picking up 😡! Round us, I've noticed that runners with dogs seem to be an issue. A couple of times I've seen a dog do a poo with the oblivious owner running miles away and not noticing where the dog is and what they've done!

Rosio · 11/10/2022 18:14

I know a family who don't pick up their dogs poo, it's a tiny dog but still! she tells me she takes a bag and pretends to pick I it up and picks up grass instead 😑 they also don't recycle which really riles me up! Everything goes in their black bin, milk bottles, cans etc everything. She just doesn't care and is too lazy to do it

Whoneedsleep · 11/10/2022 18:21

@XenoBitch I have no idea what the solution is sadly but sometimes I do wonder if the dog has gone in some bushes or whatever is it better off left to degrade rather than being locked in a bag for countless years.

We have some land and the odd missed one typically vanishes pretty quickly.

I understand we can’t just have dog shit everywhere so I pick it up every time at home or on a walk but I do hate the alternative too! I don’t go as far as to disinfect the path though on the rare occasion that happens!

Rebelmcstreettuff · 11/10/2022 18:31

Yes agree, off lead dogs are usually the culprits.
My teenager stepped in a dog turd right outside our house last week.
Re-wound my cctv to capture the culprit!
Was an old couple with a cockapoo,I've been looking for them ever since 😡
As a responsible dog owner I have always picked up after my dog.

Ilovedthe70s · 11/10/2022 09:54

I don’t think you will find a single responsible dog owner who doesn’t agree. My dogs are trained to stand by their poo until I get there to pick it up anytime they are off lead.
I am fed up with rubbish owners.

You have genius dogs. I'd love to know how you trained them to do that. I make my kids hunt for it if they let our boy out of sight.

Wheelyweddingwipedout · 13/10/2022 03:00

Agree OP. I had the same, I spoke to the dog warden and contacted Keep Britain Tidy as they have established networks with local authorities. 6 months on the situation is better. These seem to drive the right behaviours

I walk my dog with a container of biodegradable poo bags. The number of times I have grabbed one and enthusiastically pressed (forced) one into the hand of someone who had conveniently “forgotten” to bring any is beyond a joke. It’s disgusting. My dog is enormous and has proportionately-sized poo. It is frequently idiots with “don’t worry he’s friendly” off-lead smaller dogs that seem to be looking in the other direction or on their phone while their little darling craps on the path or in someone’s garden. I had one of them trying to blame my dog (always on her lead as she doesn’t like dogs and people are often intimidated by the giant, wussy floof) as I walked past while they were being confronted by someone who was complaining about their lawn being used as a toilet by a shih-tzu. Luckily the owner pointed out the obvious size disparity. (And I showed them the double-bagged poop I was taking home to my own bin.)

Ragingoverlife · 13/10/2022 05:06

Someone left dog shit in my skip the other day I stuck a passive aggressive note on it, removed all the bagged up dog shit from my skip and that evening 2 dog walkers walked past and picked up 4 bags of dog poo!

My ddog died last year but I always picked up after him. But what about cats??? Damn things shit on my extension roof where they sun bathe so the smell fills my house unless I shut the windows, they crap everywhere in my garden and I stick my hands in it when I'm weeding...why don't the owners of them take the same responsibility as dog owners? Far more cat shit around than dog imo.
