Clean up your dog sh*t

Anybody who has a dog and doesn’t pick up their poo is a complete and utter moron. Shame on you!

If you don’t have a poo bag then don’t go out with your dog unless you have something to scoop it up with, a carrier bag, a tissue, hell anything!

I can’t believe how much sh*t I’ve seen lately all over the pavements just laying there ripe and ready for some poor sod to walk right into. It’s just not on.

Clean your mess people!

Always have poo bags just trying to train the dogs to carry them!
Seriously all dog owners should pick up poo

MegaClutterSlut · 11/10/2022 11:51

Spend most mornings dodging dog shit whilst walking my dog. It takes seconds to pick up and there's bins all over, still the lazy fucks don't pick it up

Topseyt123 · 11/10/2022 11:53

This infuriates me too.

I used to have two dogs, and cleaning up after them was just part and parcel of responsible dog ownership. Their mess was my mess.

I think we need to start challenging owners who don’t tidy up after their dogs. Shout something like “I hope you’re picking that up”.

I think we absolutely need to. And to those who drop litter- you messy bastards.
The only thing is I would be worried about receiving a punch to the face….

YennefersDress · 11/10/2022 11:55

Those saying that they pick it up? What every trace? You pick up every single trace including all the disease that goes with it? That trace still gets picked up on shoes and wheels and trodden/taken into homes. That is of course unless your dog is special and does hover turds and it doesn't actually touch the ground.

This!!! Of course owners who don't pick it up are the worst of all but tbh it's actually harder to avoid the vile traces where it has been picked up but shit still remains- the stuff that hasn't been picked up is usually more visible! It's absolutely vile. My mum said she saw one girl walking her dog and not only did she pick it up, she had a spray bottle and actually cleaned the pavement afterwards, that is being properly considerate and I think all dog owners should have to do this.

OceanbreezeSun · 11/10/2022 12:27

Unfortunately, the type of people who let their dog crap everywhere and don’t clean it up, usually don’t care what other people think about them. We all know they are scummy & selfish.

Don’t get me started on the ones who bag it up but then just leave it there. What is the actual point? You go to the effort of bagging it up but leave it on the floor anyway? Then a nice collection starts and before you know it, there’s 6 bags left there.

I wish there was a machine that would find the culprits and dump the poo outside their front door. Or even better, on their kitchen floors.

I say “do you need a poo bag?” all innocently and sympathetically and I’ve never (yet) been punched in the face for it.

If you go in aggressively though then you’re likely to get agro back.

A spray bottle of what? Water will just spread it around. Surely she didn’t have a bottle of dettol and a cloth with her?!

No idea what was in it but if she'd picked it up and was then cleaning the small amounts left that's a good thing, surely? It still grosses me out seeing bits of it left on the pavement when it's been picked up. Revolting.

YennefersDress · 11/10/2022 14:22

@AllThingsServeTheBeam of course they shouldn't leave it but was pointing out that unless they are actually going to some efforts to clean every last bit of it, the germs and filth are still there and it's harder to see if that's what's left. Completely disgusting, I spend the entire walk to school having to tell my kids to avoid dog poo, look for the bits where it's been picked up as well.

So what is your suggestion? My dog only normally poos in long grass or under bushes etc where no one walks, but when he has pooed on pavement, normally when we are away and he hasn't had a run off lead, it's picked up and there is no visible trace so what else would you like dog owners to do?

Eileen101 · 11/10/2022 14:33

Absolutely. Had to take the kids home from a play park recently after my four year old accidentally stepped in some then tried to wipe it off his wellie with his hand, not realising what it was.
It's a quiet play park so some absolute arse hole had left it amongst the play equipment 🤮 I had no tissues or wipes as we'd just popped out quickly 😔

YennefersDress · 11/10/2022 14:36

Really @AllThingsServeTheBeam? Every single time, there is no visible trace? Every day walking my kids to school there are viable traces of dog shit on the path, even after most of it has been picked up. It's not always easy to spot, definitely not for kids, so I spend the whole walk telling them to watch out for it and pointing out where it is. I think people should take proper cleaning materials out with them to clean it up. I don't really care how impractical that is for dog owners tbh- I don't see why other people should have to deal with it on their shoes etc, it's grim. I'd never choose to have a dog and don't want to be cleaning dog poo off my shoes. I don't want my kids being exposed to dog poo germs. Revolting.

I can hand on my heart tell you that every visible trace is picked up if my dog shits on concrete or pavement. He has probably done it a handful of times in his 11 years it's so rare.

It is completely over the top to expect people to take cleaning materials with them. Jesus. Heard it all now. 😂

YennefersDress · 11/10/2022 14:47

I don't think it's over the top to expect people to clean up properly after their own animal that they have chosen to have and to not inflict it's filth and germs on other people @AllThingsServeTheBeam. What do you suggest then, to the people who pick it up but leave the leftovers there for everyone still to step in?

I've heard it all now as well. 'Hand on heart every visible trace is picked up' is up there with 'he's off the lead but always comes back when called' or 'my dog doesn't bark much' etc etc...

Can you read my comment again please? I said every visible trace and he very rarely does it.

Train the dog to go on the verge...? Like mine does? No idea. But a bottle of Dettol isn't the answer is it

And my dog goes go off the lead and he has never ever failed to recall. I am hitting all your bingos!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 11/10/2022 14:53

Definitely worse post pandemic, when every moron went and got a dog. I get even madder when its in the playgrounds where dogs are banned. I shouldnt have to watch over my children when running from swing to slide. I am tempted to setup a revolt where we all have our babies and toddlers shit on the ground and leave it!

YennefersDress · 11/10/2022 14:53

You are indeed 😁 honestly my solution would be to not have pet dogs, but yeah that won't happen will it...

Rockbird · 11/10/2022 14:54

I'm about to become a dog owner and totally agree that's it's disgusting not to clean up after your dog. But I can't remember the last time I had to dodge dog poo on the pavement, I must live in a very responsible area!

That's a good point actually, makes me think too there should be separate parks and more places where dogs can't go. Mind you, there's a big forest place near where I live, the largest section of it allows dogs and there's a smaller section that is supposed to be dog free, but ignorant twats still take their dogs in there. Really pisses me off.

caramac04 · 11/10/2022 14:57

Dog owner here, always carry poo bags and pick up dog poo - even that of other peoples dogs. The worst offenders imo are the ones who let their dogs crap on the recreation ground, where kids and adults play football, and don’t attempt to clear it up. Absolutely disgusting and should never own a dog. No excuse whatsoever for that.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 11/10/2022 15:22

I'm stick of people letting their bloody dogs piss up the plants in our front garden.

We keep our garden neat and tidy but all the bloody expensive shrubs get killed by people who think their precious dog should be able to piss wherever it fancies 😡

Where I lived in Spain it was law that you must carry and use cleaning materials and clear up everything after your dog. Some did and some didn't but did see the warden fine a couple of people.

I do.
