DH's Noisy Wee

sooozie15 · 09/10/2022 18:28

Every morning my DH wakes up and has a wee.. he obviously never has to get up in the night for a wee so wakes up with a full bladder and wees straight into the loo, he doesn't try and wee down the side to stop the noise so it is this thunderous waterfall noise that wakes me and my two DDs, EVERY MORNING.. is this normal or am i just slightly menopausal and massively irritable!!!

Depends on how you want to tackle it.

Pour a jug of water down the toilet while he is listening so he understands how loud it is

Shout, have you got the co-op horse in there with you? While he’s having his loud wee.

Ask him to sit down while having a wee so he doesn’t wake the whole house.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 09/10/2022 18:39

You can't complain about someone having a wee; and aiming for the side sounds potentially messy! You could perhaps ask him to put a bit of loo roll in first to muffle the sound though.

Extremely good tackle advice here

He could sit down?

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/10/2022 18:40

He could sit down. German men do.

How much earlier is this waking you all?

minidancer · 09/10/2022 18:44

My oh does this is the middle of the night........then I'm awake and can't get back to sleep and he's snoring. Causes so many arguments

LearnerCook · 09/10/2022 18:46

Just ask him to sit down.

albapunk · 09/10/2022 18:47

Earplugs?

You can't not wee and men can't control the flow as such, in the same way women can.

I can't sleep with ear plugs in, nor should anyone have to because their partner is an inconsiderate twunt.

@sooozie15

just ask him to put some loo roll in or sit down. If he won't, ask him why not & carry on the discussion until you get to him explaining why it's fine for him to wake you all up when he has other options?

my neighbour wees like a fucking race horse too. We're opposite sides of the houses.

He's mid 70's & tall (frequent usage & long drop to water bowl)... if he started waking me regularly at nice I'd ask him to sit down (but I know he'd say he doesn't want to dunk Willy in the water 🙄)

Is this the world's first case of womansplaining?

I promise you men can control the flow. Ask any 8 year old who's been in a "who can piss highest up the wall" competition.

8 year olds dont have the same prostates as older men though do they so a bit irrelevant

I assume this thread his lighthearted other wise that is hugely inappropriate to even consider complaining about.

Getting woken up every morning is inappropriate to complain about, when a little consideration - e.g. by sitting down- would prevent it? Speak for yourself.

bellac11 · 09/10/2022 19:57

You must be joking, do you honestly not understand how controlling you sound. You actually think its ok to dictate the position someone uses when they go to the loo??

This forum is just beyond parody

unsync · 09/10/2022 19:58

Could he pee in the sink instead? That would be quieter. 🤔

Is asking nicely 'dictating' now. Or must everyone be psychic?

PinkButtercups · 09/10/2022 20:07

Normal. I always tell my DP he pisses like a race horse in the morning.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 09/10/2022 20:14

It's entirely normal. My DH did this (and sometimes in the night too). It seems ridiculously loud when the house is so quiet! I asked him (nicely, not in any kind of controlling way!) If he could sit down instead, and he does, and the problem is solved.

washingbasketqueen · 09/10/2022 20:30

It is inconsiderate. He could wee against the inside of the bowl or put some toilet roll in first which might lesson the sound.

RaRaRaspoutine · 09/10/2022 20:41

Hahahaha, sorry. It can be SO loud I know!!

Fallulah · 09/10/2022 20:48

My partner usually sits. When he stands it’s like there is a water drill going off up there. I always thought it was because he’s so tall so it makes the sound worse.

Just ask him if he could please sit in the morning as he’s waking everyone up. Not difficult.

albapunk · 09/10/2022 20:55

I'm not womansplaining. My partner cannot control the flow of his urine very well at all, and it's common as men age. I deal with urination at work, a lot!

I'm just legitimately not sure what options there are! Pad the water with looroll I guess or ask him to sit down, but in the morning I'm absolutely bursting so I probably wouldn't think of doing anything differently, I just gotta go!😅

CbCV · 09/10/2022 21:01

My DH will sit down and wee so it's quieter or if he's having to wee with DDs around.

Just seems like your DH is an inconsiderate arsehole.

But then we also don't flush the loo closest to DC bedroom in the morning unless its totally necessary. (Start of the night they won't wake but once it's sunrise it can and then they won't go back to sleep!)

MarmiteCoriander · 09/10/2022 21:03

OP- is he using an en-suite right near the bedroom? Ask him to shut to door, put loo paper in first, or use another toilet!

Propertyhuntingsucks · 09/10/2022 21:04

I feel your pain.....it's known as thunder piss in this house 🙄

Annabananna1 · 09/10/2022 21:06

Urgh. Terrible memory flashback of my dad doing this. Early hours of the morning every morning. My room was right beside the bathroom.
It was SO LOUD
Actually incredulous

Why did he not put some tissue down to muffle the sound.
I'm not even sure he fully shut the door.

It made me feel so awful inside
