I wasn't emotionally prepared for the Sleepytime episode of Bluey. What has unexpectedly made you cry recently?

I mean, I know I'm tired because the baby's sleep is all out of whack, but honestly.

Crying into my morning cup of tea over a cartoon dog trying to sleep in her own bed all night is just soppy. Early night for me tonight I think.

It's not just me, is it?

I saw a lady with her tiny newborn asleep on her chest in Boots. I smiled at her and said how beautiful, then went and cried by the makeup!

I endured rather than enjoyed the newborn days but a tiny baby is so special, it just took me out. My baby had slept through as well so tiredness was not an excuse!

Sleepytime episode makes me sob!

I love that episode! Mum as the sun makes me cry every time. DH sourced a sleepytime book and mug for Mother’s Day for me 💗.

I remember unexpectedly crying at Masha and the Bear (episode 52, Until We Meet Again). This was at the peak of DS's demanding toddler phase, and I really related to the bear having his brain melted by Masha day in and day out, and then... suddenly she is grown up and leaving and he is desperate for one more day.

I was fine with Sleepytime until a friend’s mum died earlier this year, now it has me in bits. It’s such a lovely episode.

When I was pregnant I got very emotional watching any reference to women’s football - something about brave strong talented women overcoming stereotypes 😅

Notoironing · 07/10/2022 10:16

I absolutely love that episode. It’s so real. Bluey is amazing!

Clawdy · 07/10/2022 10:18

Listening to Richard Harris singing Macarthur Park - yes, I know it's a bit weird but the words at the end are so sad!

LadyCassandra · 07/10/2022 10:18

Baby Race had me in floods! I love Bluey!

A children's book called The Tide by Clare Helen Welsh. It's an incredibly touching book written to help children understand dementia

My grandad has Alzheimer's and reading this with my DS to try and explain why Grandpop is sometimes forgetful or different than he used to be, was emotional and bittersweet. ❤️

DH was the sleepy time with the kids the day after FIL died. He had to leave the room.

Neverfullycharged · 07/10/2022 10:22

That episode worried rather than upset me - how old are Bluey and Bingo meant to be?

4 and 6.

I haven't seen that episode (will go seek it out now as I'm a sucker for punishment Bluey) but like @LadyCassandra "Baby Race" properly got me.

TheBirdintheCave · 07/10/2022 10:32

That episode broke my husband. He lost his mum to cancer in his twenties and he was just sobbing 😢

ChickinMarango · 07/10/2022 10:34

Every time we read paper dolls by Julia Donaldson. Lost my mum early 20’s and now have two beautiful girls and the thought I’d all the things I will do with them as they grow, that my mum did with me, gets me every time!

APurpleSquirrel · 07/10/2022 10:34

Goodbye Mog & The Paper Dolls - really struggle to read them without crying.
Love Sleepytime & Bluey - one of our favourite shows.
Also the end of Grandad with Chilli & her dad 😢

Me too! I also love Bin Night

purplesky18 · 07/10/2022 10:35

Sleepy time gives me that tingly feeling where I realise just how precious children are and it definitely does well me up so don’t feel alone in that! I did recently cry at the queens funeral when the pipers started playing, which doesn’t seem too strange but I am an anti monarchy raging socialist loon so… il blame it on hormones 😀

BorgQueen · 07/10/2022 10:41

If you think that’s upsetting, try and find an old childrens cartoon called Grandpa. A little Girl loves spending time with him having adventures and one day she goes to his house and there’s his empty chair and empty slippers 😭

MintyGreenDreams · 07/10/2022 10:46

The Queen of Sheba episode if the Royle Family.Bawled my eyes out

The page where the granny is stored in her memories gets me every time - I don't think my little ones realise the meaning of that page but I have a tear every single time we read it.

BorgQueen · 07/10/2022 10:47

It’s Granpa, Peter Ustinov did the voice, it’s far sadder than I remember

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 07/10/2022 10:56

The snail and the whale movie. I cry before it's even started.

Also the intro scene on Paddington 2. Knowing uncle Pastuzo never stood a chance to go to London and selflessly gave up his dream to care for a child in need.

Sammilouwho · 07/10/2022 10:57

The Baby race episode gets me everytime!

The only reason I can get through Paper Dolls is that I know it off by heart so I turn my brain off and recite it by rote. The kind granny and all the childhood memories, and doing the things with your own daughter that your mum did with you. Christ even typing this I'm welling up (and my mum is alive and well, although others from my childhood aren't).
