So I have been having some symptoms for a while and I don’t want to waste the doctors time if it’s nothing and be told off by them !

I feel really stupid asking but don’t have anyone else to talk to about this 😕
symptoms are:
needing to pee constantly but no pain so I don’t think it’s an infection but has been going on a couple of months at least and waking me in the night

Dizzy spells/feeling faint regularly for no apparent reason

Pins and needles in my feet

tiredness constantly like I can’t ever wake up feeling refreshed but this has been going on for ages and when I mentioned it about a year ago to a go at a coil appointment they said it was just a sign of a busy life?!

hungry all the time (but could be just greedy lol)

So it might sound really stupid but would you make an appointment with these symptoms as while there annoying I can cope at the moment (I get real anxiety when it comes to thinking I might be unwell normally I’m sane promise!!)

Actually, it could still be a UTI. They can present slightly differently sometimes.

could also be diabetes, definitely go to the GP asap

Defiantly go to the gp. Also insist on a blood test.

Can I ask if you drink alcohol every night? I used to, and often had these symptoms. Gave up alcohol earlier this year, and feel tonnes better. No harm in seeing gp, ask for a blood test. Esp if over 40, or 50. I think they encourage this, in fact?

Rasin · 25/09/2022 14:11

Sorry, we crossed posts re ages, but 35 is still an age where the body can begin to change.

MissVantaBlack · 25/09/2022 14:11

I'd want to rule out diabetes with those symptoms, OP. With Type 2 diabetes, you don't necessarily lose weight. Definitely worth a GP appointment, and if you've caught it early enough, you may even be able to reverse it (under medical supervision), so don't tarry!

GoodVibesHere · 25/09/2022 14:12

Is it a side effect of medication? SSRI's?

No I barely ever drink tbh maybe a night out every few months but I don’t really like alcohol never have it at home

To answer your question, yes you should go to the GP with those symptoms, it does sound like it could be diabetes. Type 1 can come on anytime, type 2 more likely in older people than younger people.

Noneyerbuisness11234 · 25/09/2022 14:29

Have u done a pregnancy test?

ICanHideButICantRun · 25/09/2022 14:31

Could you ask your pharmacist to give you a blood test for T2 diabetes?

FlippertyGibberts · 25/09/2022 14:32

Urgent GP appointment definitely - diabetes was my first thought as well, and you're better to catch things as early as you can.

Good luck OP.

quiteathome · 25/09/2022 14:45

I would get diabetes ruled out. There seem to be more people at a younger age with type 2 these days. Also not necessarily overweight.

loislovesstewie · 25/09/2022 14:47

The symptoms do seem to be very like type 2 diabetes. It does come on gradually but needing to wee more, feeling tired, thirsty and hungry are classic symptoms. Can you get a blood sugar test?

Maytodecember · 25/09/2022 14:51

Complete blood and urine tests to rule out UTI, diabetes, B12 deficiency ( fatigue, pins and needles) and any other deficiencies. Get a copy of the results, you’re entitled to one, and check the levels yourself ( figure for each test) against the range ( figures in brackets after your result)

SeaToSki · 25/09/2022 14:52

Worth getting checked out. Write a list of your symptoms down, include things like
dry skin
thining hair
energy
bowels and peeing
stomach aches
energy
weight
sleep
back aches
pins and needles
appetite and thirst
menstrual cycle

then give the doctor the list… when you are a bit nervous if you are going to be taken seriously its easy to just forget to mention some symptoms and they might be the important ones. Then the doctor can scan the list quickly and it saves them time too

Underroad · 25/09/2022 15:00

Multiple sclerosis?

MargaretThursday · 25/09/2022 15:04

Go to the GP. I've been putting off going with a few symptoms for around a year. Was expecting to have to book a phone appointment for a couple of weeks time.
I phoned and asked the receptionist and they said they would get a GP to ring me. They phoned back before I'd put the phone down, and 5 minutes later I was seeing them face to face where they've referred me for one thing and done a blood test for the other.
