I have a very important question about the advent of tubeless toilet rolls

Is the new cardboard-tubeless toilet roll still going to work on all our toilet roll holders? I’m very worried that our toilet roll holders won’t be fit for purpose and that using toilet roll will become a more complicated process. Has this been taken into account do you think? Please reassure me!

What will I use to my sweetpea seedlings?

You're very worried.
Well I wish I had your worries.

Noones going to be making physical artwork soon, it'll all be digital.

Losing unnecessary packaging is really important. Tubeless toilet rolls are needed 😁

Presumably they are keeping the plastic wrapper and only ditching the biodegradable cardboard inner...?

We ended up with some when I sent DH out to get toilet roll. Don’t work on the toilet roll holder properly and it was also difficult to actually unwind even off the holder because it all seemed stuck together

Agree. It was just a big clumpy mess.

You’re very welcome to them but the phrase “be careful what you wish for” springs to mind … :)

I didn’t get a clumpy mess. It just rolled off the holder til there was none left. The last few sheets were held together a bit more but that was it.
Maybe there’s some ‘operator error’ going on. 😂

Have they said what the reason is - is it purely environmental? If so, this is another example of companies trying to look environmental when they are focussing on the wrong things. The inner tube is recyclable and actually has other purposes (crafts, growing plants like others have mentioned). Yet the manufacturers still insist on having plastic outer wrapping and for most brands the actual toilet paper is not made from recycled materials. For that reason I don't buy toilet paper from supermarkets anymore and only buy recycled toilet paper online.
If they are actually doing this for environmental reasons they would do it for other products too like banning single use plastic and unnecessary packaging which is a much bigger issue than toilet roll inner tubes.
