What does the 23rd word mean (in the middle of the first set of brackets)? I've never seen that word, and I've read a lot of words in my time!

I was a bit surprised by the marked dislike of yesterday's topic, I didn't think it was obscure - perhaps because DD had wanted to take the (now defunct, I believe) 'Systems and Control' A level which her school usually allowed but that year there weren't enough to run it.

I'd never come across that one either. If you look it up, it has a Wikipedia entry itself. I guess we'd better not discuss it on this thread till after 5pm tomorrow!
