Why is Frugi everywhere?

Don't get me wrong some of their stuff is nice enough but trying to shop online for my children's winter clothing is getting quite boring now- every major brand including supermarkets seems to be mostly selling them.
I know the answer is just scroll by and I do but it's not even as if they're reasonably priced, they're so expensive!

I had to google Frugi as I had never heard of it. Then I realised why. DD is 22 Grin

TheNonsensePotter · 19/09/2022 14:47

Sorry I probably should have given a brief description 😂

Frugi is an organic clothing brand for children and I think there is an adult range too. Eye-achingly bright and colourful and horrendously expensive.

They’re good quality and wash and wear well, plus a more ethical company.
I assume they’re sold in other places because those companies think it will be good for them to sell the brand

BuffaloCauliflower · 19/09/2022 14:50

Plus lots of us find the overly gendered high street offerings of pink unicorns and khaki dinosaurs a bit boring and want something different for our kids

NCFT0922 · 19/09/2022 14:50

They’re absolutely horrendous designs OP. I too have to just scroll past.

Nocutenamesleft · 19/09/2022 14:51

They’re organic. Ethically made etc. you pay for that rather than some child in a sweat shop making it for fast fashion

thats what someone told me once.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/09/2022 14:52

I like Frugi's adult stuff. But only on eBay as it's massively overpriced!

NCFT0922 · 19/09/2022 14:53

What in fresh hell are these and why would anyone dress their child in fucking “parsnip pants” such ridiculous items.

@NCFT0922 the parsnip pants are lovely, loose and comfy. They’re also designed to fit over cloth nappies which almost highstreet stuff isn’t

Absolutely! I love Frugi, we did cloth nappies and Frugi was a great fit.

Unfortunately DD is now at the Peppa Fecking Pig everything stage and so we have far less Frugi than I would like.

I also like Kite. I bought most of it used or sale though.

IScreamMonday · 19/09/2022 14:58

I haven't noticed them anywhere new and have always liked them as they have bright colours and are really well made.

unicormb · 19/09/2022 14:58

They really shrink up in the tumble dryer, and I don't have time for that sort of fuckery in my life.

Thisismyusername1 · 19/09/2022 14:59

My son is eight now, I used to love frugi, as pp says great over cloth nappies and personally I love the bright colours. However, I believe they had a change of ownership and now, as you say, they are everywhere. Next, Sainsbury's, Argos, etc. Used to be independent shops and frankly I think frugi have treated them appallingly. The designs are less bright and more "mainstream" now as well. Probably to fit in with the places they are now being sold.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 19/09/2022 15:00

My kids pretty much only wear Frugi. I like it. If you don’t, buy one of the other kids brands 🤷🏻‍♀️

Whatsthepointofmosquitos · 19/09/2022 15:01

DD adores frugli, their fabric is so much softer than other companies. I think you’re only noticing because the price is a problem for you.

Just buy from elsewhere. 🤷‍♀️

Hyacinth Bucket! Welcome to the thread!

properdoughnut · 19/09/2022 15:03

I quite like them. And toby tiger. As pp said nice to have colourful kids clothes that aren't bloody unicorns.

BuffaloCauliflower · 19/09/2022 15:05

@unicormb yes they don’t do well in a tumble dryer, but that’s because they’re all cotton. Natural fibres will shrink.

unicormb · 19/09/2022 15:05

All the real middle class parents buy Boden, donchaknow

You astound me.

ZealAndArdour · 19/09/2022 15:08

Well those little parsnip pants certainly look more comfortable than trying to cram a chubby little baby into a pair of Primark skinny jeans.

BuffaloCauliflower · 19/09/2022 15:09

@Thisismyusername1 I buy a lot of Duns, Maxomorra, Toby Tiger and Little Bird, plenty of bright and funky stuff out there if you know where to look. I know I won’t have many years of choosing my children’s cloths fully so I’ll enjoy it while I can!

The vast majority of high street offerings are boring, repetitive and so heavily gendered, but wanting something more creative does come with a price hit

BuffaloCauliflower · 19/09/2022 15:11

Also, there’s a big trade in second hand ethical brands. I buy these brands but mostly not new because they do cost more

NCFT0922 · 19/09/2022 15:12

@ZealAndArdour are those the only 2 brands you can think of that sell Childrens clothing? No wonder you’re dressing your child as a ladybird if so.

Anyfeckinusername · 19/09/2022 15:13

Oh Frugi!! 💚 my kids are a little bigger now but Frugi was unreal quality - those quilted boy trousers... 💚 I loved their stuff back in the day.
