Has anyone been to the Lying In State and wished they hadn't bothered?

Just being nosey really. I'm not the most patient of people and can't imagine queuing for hours for anything. Has anyone been and found it a bit of a letdown once they got to the end (beginning?) of The Queue?

How do you know? I said that I would hazard a guess. Whereas you state it is incorrect

Yes I stand corrected.

I think you got flak because you have zero evidence and just sounded sneery and superior.

LinMortisanass · 18/09/2022 11:18

Anyone else heard the rumours that the Queen isn't in that coffin?!

Heard the odd rumour for days.

Anyone who believes that really doesn't understand what the Queen stood for. On top of which, do you really think she would have allowed her much loved DD to go trailing over the country following an empty box, during a time she is grieving and exhausted?

I'd guess everyone's heard that and then revised their opinion of anyone who seriously thinks that

i would be fascinated to know how many CEOs, CFOs, CTOs infact any business leaders, Execs, consultants… I could go on.

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 11:26

Were in the queue!

And Thinking about those people at a funeral "are they REALLY in there, show me the proof?"

Sorry but god alive.

Go on 🤷‍♀️ Cos stopping there you sound even more superior and special.

I have seen some demographics but not those. Uni East Anglia are 'measuring' the demographics on site.

What would be the point of her not being in there?

MarshaBradyo · 18/09/2022 11:41

The rumour re not in coffin is so silly I can’t believe people are repeating it

There should be a term for this gullibility spreading so quickly, maybe there is

sunglassesonthetable · 18/09/2022 11:46

Maybe it'll be the new 'thing' after any funeral.

"Ahh, but was there really a body in there, Keith?

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 11:56

It would seem @sunglassesonthetable that you see low earners and benefit claimants as somehow something to be embarrassed about?

To comment on what you think the demographic of an event would be based on income is reasonable.

just like I would hazard a guess those attending Lords cricket have a higher than average income.

No I don't.

You swing it any way you want. You can play it that you're doing some sort of 'educated evaluation'. Lords is an easy one, it's been around for years. But this is new stuff and a week in you're 'hazarding' all sorts of very superior guesses.

Guesses

you see as “superior” guesses as you seem to think that being on a low income or on benefits is “inferior”

sunglassesonthetable · 18/09/2022 12:21

Nope I don't.

You swing it how you like. You wrote it.I don't think I'm the only one that got that from your post.

If you didn't mean to come across as superior and sneery you messed up.

Anyway no doubt these demographics will get published and there will be no need to hazard uninformed 'guesses'.

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 12:27

I look forward the interest to the research

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 12:27

“With interest”

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 12:31

I can’t see how saying I hazard a guess that there will be a leaning towards low income and those dependent on benefits in queue as in anyway different to saying that I would hazard a guess that there will be a leaning towards to high income amongst those in line at the opera

sunglassesonthetable · 18/09/2022 12:32

Because there are Operas every week. 🙄

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 12:32

I less of course you think the opera or cricket or Wimbledon tennis is intrinsically superior to queuing to give your respects to a fantastic queen

What on earth does frequency have to do with anything?

sunglassesonthetable · 18/09/2022 12:37

Because Operas like Lords are well established things!

1952 was the last time this happened for the reigning monarch.

sunglassesonthetable · 18/09/2022 12:39

Anyway i'll leave you to it this must be boring for other posters. Enjoy the nice weather.
