Would you take an in season dog to the pub?

Dh and I disagreeing about this. Would you take a dog who is in season out for a meal in a pub beer garden at Saturday lunchtime? She would be on a lead the whole time.

Thanks again, pretty unanimous. Dh will hate that I’m right (as usual). 😂

Tbf, our family who are breeders realistically probably don’t randomly take theirs out to the pub in season either because they are too busy trying to breed one or the other. Their argument was that breeding is such a lengthy process and unlikely to take anyway, which I think is kind of like someone who’s been TTC forever and doesn’t really appreciate how much someone else doesn’t want an oopsie. Personally, I’m not concerned about unwanted pregnancy; I’m concerned about her being harassed and us (Dh 🙄) being those people who ruin everyone’s lunch because we’re being stupid.

How rude are some of the posters here. Saying the dog would ruin people’s days etc. I cannot see the issue. Get her a pair of dog pants and take her out, she’ll be full of hormones and deserves a treat x

MyneighbourisTotoro · 15/09/2022 22:38

No, I wouldn’t take her anywhere unless I 100% knew no other dogs would be around for miles.

God no! It will be a nightmare for you and any other male dog owners.

washingbasketqueen · 15/09/2022 22:54

No way. My dog is neutered and well behaved. If I took him to a pub I'd hope there wouldn't be any temptations like this. Could cause difficulties with non neutered males.

maddy68 · 15/09/2022 22:56

No why would you ? You are making a miserable time for all

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/09/2022 23:00

A friend of mine has just had to pay £300 to stop a potential pregnancy in her eight month old puppy after a dog got at her as she was coming into season. Is your dh happy to let her go through this and also to foot the bill? Absolute twat. Him and the family members. Cant believe any so-called dog breeder would say that.

Dora26 · 15/09/2022 23:03

Are you out of your mind - NO, for all the aforementioned reasons

SirChenjins · 16/09/2022 08:02

Although we had a neutered dog who was still very interested in bitches who were in season

Yep, definitely this. I have friends whose dogs are still interested despite being neutered, and another one who had an argument with a man when his off lead male dog tried to hump her on lead, in season bitch and he was quite insistent is was OK because his dog was neutered. She'd kept the walk short and at a quiet time, but the timing was v unfortunate.

gatehouseoffleet · 16/09/2022 10:28

Why so many threads about in season dogs? This is the third one I've seen recently.

MN does have a search function. The only difference is the others were about going for a walk, and yours is about the pub.

Megifer · 16/09/2022 10:33

Absolutely not. I still shudder when I remember my dog shaking spots of blood all over me when she stood up and a bit landed on my LIP 🤢

You being serious, Hun?

maddy68 · 16/09/2022 10:34

No. They drop blood on their floor for a start. Let alone the chaos if another dog is in there

Chikapu · 16/09/2022 10:38

Is going to the pub considered a treat for dogs?

Yes, nice for her to get out the house and have a few chips

Surely a massive salad would be more appropriate?
