The school are creating a book of condolence for the DC to write in.

On the surface of it, this is a nice idea, and I can see

There are all sorts of reasons where it could be inappropriate for a particular child, e.g. a recent bereavement in their own family. I don't have the news on constantly, but it's around every corner. Ds is 5 and it's obviously having an effect as he keeps talking about death. I think that's enough without a homework project. Nice to be given the opportunity if they want to, but shouldn't be obligatory.

Oh did you not realise - you're clearly a raging Republican if you don't want to weep and wail about someone you don't know and have never met. It's complete nonsense and I'd be encouraging my daughter to write about how she really feels.

^This. They'll be being marked down next for not being sympathetic enough.

Hasn’t Liz Truss previously given a speech as a younger person calling for the abolition of the monarchy. Yet she has been the one to lead condolences on behalf of the government.

As a teenager. I can't say my opinions have stayed the same as they were when I was 17 on many issues, but even if hers have, so what? She didn't actually say anything disrespectful about the monarchy, just that she disagreed with the concept. You can be PM and still be a republican.

@Mamamia7962

Didn’t say they couldn’t, merely stating a fact and highlighting Truss is probably now doing something she might not relish but has to as part of her job. Might be a good lesson for some who are getting het up about their kid writing a condolence.

@Ladybyrd

Think you misunderstood my post as I don’t care what Liz Truss thinks and never said anything about her speech. It’s an example of sometimes doing things you might have a preference not to.

However if you are PM you have to pledge your allegiance to the monarch so I don’t think you can in fact be PM and a republican.

Is that the oath of allegiance the SNP member took holding up his crossed fingers? Have they let him out of the Tower yet?

I respectfully disagree with you.

Absolutely and they can put the Scottish Greens in with him
