In the midst of all this gloom - what's making you happy today?

From the mundane to the important.

Mundane - My Who Gives a Crap order is on it's way and it's got limited edition wrapping paper this time.

Important: DD started a new school for 6th form and she loves it and seems to be starting to make friends. I feel very relieved because she might not have!

Also, Ukraine may finally be winning the war 🤞

AlphaAlpha · 10/09/2022 13:40

Husband and child camping for the weekend, so I have the house to myself.
I've had a lovely lie in, cleaned all inside and outside windows, opened all the windows wide, scrubbed the shower and hung washing out.
I'm now having a lovely bath, at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon!
It's bliss - later I'll watch a movie, do a picky platter for my tea, open the cava in the fridge and watch crap telly (masked dancer, the voice)
Then I'll have another fabulous lie in tomorrow!

Lovely thread. I've started a new jigsaw and am going to do some baking with DD. Washing on the line and I'm enjoying the autumnal feel to the air, love this time of year

Not feeling in the least gloomy. Currently binging on Chicago med and tidying up in between.

Readinginthesun · 10/09/2022 13:47

My beautiful 18 month old granddaughter said “ love you Granny “ ( sort of!)

PollyEsther · 10/09/2022 13:49

DS has his birthday on Monday, and this year is the first that he's ever got excited (he is not a toddler, but he does have SEN). DH has taken him for a lovely day out today, and DS is utterly delighted. It's adorable to see.

Sambucus · 10/09/2022 13:49

What a lovely thread! Thinking about everyone’s contentments is making me happy, thank you 😊.

In the midst of what gloom???

CuriousMama · 10/09/2022 19:48

@JedEye latest is olive oil and cook chicken mince, sweet potatoes and carrots, brown rice herbs and chicken stock (not much because of salt) add enough water for rice and simmer until rice cooked and vegetables tender. He loves it.

In the midst of what gloom???

Why come on here? People are struggling to make ends meet and a lot are upset about the queen. You're pathetic.

FayeGovan · 10/09/2022 19:53

How are they pathetic FGS

Not all of us are gloomy, its pathetic you dont realise that

drspouse · 10/09/2022 19:53

Took both DCs to the kids cycle training club. DD cried at first but smashed it after she got in her stride. DS has been before and struggled (he has ADHD and dyspraxia) but he went with DH onto the mountain biking field and had his own training session. Both DCs cycled there through traffic really well and DD went back with me (we have a tandem hookup).

Sparklythings1 · 10/09/2022 19:54

Mundane: I’ve got a packet of munchies in the fridge to enjoy when I get out this bath 😂

important: our little one took his first steps today for the first time and did it about 5 times ☺️👏🏼

MammaWeasel · 10/09/2022 19:56

My two pet ferrets are cuddled up sleeping in the cuddly warm hammock I made them this afternoon. Awwww.

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 10/09/2022 19:59

I'm having a 90s indie disco in the kitchen with a glass of wine and a beautiful sunset.

Added bonus. The children are not murdering each other.

MassiveSalad22 · 10/09/2022 20:00

I got a ceramic sandcastle and a lovely bag in the post today ☺️☺️

my jumper from vinted arrived today.
and, although a bit short, it is very cosy

MammaWeasel · 10/09/2022 20:06

I can show you a pic of the hammocks but if I go near their hutch they'll bolt out of it expecting treats! 😂

No gloom here, I'm in a cheerful mood and have been all week.

A lovely walk with DH earlier, lots of other people out enjoying the sunshine on foot, on bikes and in boats.

A cup of tea, cake and long catch up with a good friend this afternoon.

Some garden plants I have grown from cuttings are doing well and can go into their final positions tomorrow. I have several dozen daffodil bulbs to plant too.

Swapped jam for chutney with a neighbour, an annual ritual.

I heard today that friends we haven't seen since before the pandemic will be around next weekend, really looking forward to that.

DH and I have had something planned for the 19th for a while. I've checked and it won't be affected by potential closures for the queen's funeral so really looking forward to that too.

One of my adult DC had some very good news this week.

As a PP said, Ukraine appears to be doing well at the moment.

Life is good.

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 20:08

The marmalade sandwich labelled “For later” someone left outside the palace. It made me smile.

Titsywoo · 10/09/2022 20:08

My DD turned 18 today 😊

Also I managed to clear a flowerbed that I wanted to do for ages and got lots of cleaning done.

Imissmoominmama · 10/09/2022 20:09

I had three really heartfelt hugs today. I love hugs.
